Managing after a bad beat?
Hey all, I was playing on Bodog 50NL earlier this evening and lost 3 full buy-ins in 30 minutes on three separate hands. On the first two I went all-in on the turn and lost to a three- and then a five-outer, and just when I had built my stack back up to $80 I pushed all-in preflop with aces and lost it all when some guy with $300 mysteriously called with T-8o and hit two pair at the river. I've heard that as one improves at poker one will start to lose to more and more bad beats simply because one usually has the best hand more often, but I'm actually dizzy right now. How do you all handle this?

Re: Managing after a bad beat?
If I lose more than 2 buyins in a short amount of time I have to take a break and do something else before playing again.
You handle it by knowing that you played well and by looking at your bankroll which should be overflowing with the $$$ from those same people who sucked out on you. |

go make love to your woman [/ QUOTE ] LOL. I was gonna say at the end of my post that alcohol, weed and women all help too but I thought I'd be stating the obvious. |
Re: Managing after a bad beat?
I have good bankroll management so beats rarely affect me.

Re: Managing after a bad beat?
Just take a break. Sitting there playing while steaming isn't good unless you have a lot of discipline (sp?)
I consider myself fairly level, but today I almost had to stop playing after 3 buyins in short order |
Re: Managing after a bad beat?
lol.
But dammit, I need the money for the alcohol and the weed, and the woman is at work. Come to think of it, I also need the money for valentine's day or else the woman will be unavailable too. Crap! |
Re: Managing after a bad beat?
Well that explains it
When you *need* the money, losing sessions are much more likely to have an impact on your mentality. |
Re: Managing after a bad beat?
Move up to 200NL and try to get it back all in one shot!
