For all you kids out there - the dangers of slowplaying top set

Here is a hand that I played so badly it wasn't even funny. This is what happens when you get tired of betting your set and opponent folding on stars $10 nl tables. A great instructional example of someone (myself) using a slowplay in a poor situation. Even though all the villian has on the flop is a gutshot, Good argument against slowplaying here.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($12.35)
Hero ($13.75)
Button ($14.10)
SB ($9.50)
BB ($9.15)

Preflop: Hero is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.4, 3 folds, UTG calls $0.30.

Flop: ($0.95) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($0.95) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $0.3, Hero calls $0.30.

River: ($1.55) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
UTG bets $1.5, Hero calls $1.50.

Final Pot: $4.55

Results in white below:
UTG has Th Kh (flush, ace high).
Hero has As Ad (three of a kind, aces).
Outcome: UTG wins $4.55.

really no point.
You raised PF and then check behind on the flop. You have to c-bet. If you want to be tricky you can c-bet really small. Then he might come over the top or something.
If he has nothing, you get nothing, its as simple as that. And since all you have is one pair, do you really want him to improve that much?
The only way to slow play it is if villain lead into us. Then you might be able to call and raise the turn, or if you OOP..

Don't be too hard on yourself. We've all been there - flop top set and you want to get max value. Board didn't look scary yet. You should have raised the turn though.

Seems to me that every time I used to slow play top set a guy ended up making some kind of draw or boat so now I never slow play top set. I might slow play trip Aces but only if there isn't a draw on the board. On this hand, I'd be betting a ton on the turn.

When you want to get paid on your big hands you should start fastplaying weaker hands/draws, not slowplaying the big hands.

The solution is not to slowplay the set, its to elevate your aggression so that people want to call you.
