ATo (New to No Limit)

I am new to No Limit and dont really have a feel for the game yet and looking for commnets.

First I made a minimum raise. My intent was to get rid of week hands. Second not sure I played this hand well at all. Too passive? Thoughts?

Ultimate Bet
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25./$0.50.
10 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is MP1 with As; Td;
3 folds, Hero raises to $1, 5 folds, BB calls.
(Intent here was to weed out week hands)

Flop: 5h; Ah; 9c; ($2.25, 2 players)
BB bets $2.25, Hero raises to $4.5, BB calls.
(not much info on villan other than he seemed tight but I only had info on him for a few hands.. My thought is that calling a min raise for the BB is almost automatic but...?)

Turn: Kc; ($11.25, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2, BB calls.
(Because I believ him to be tight when he calls I figure he probably has me beat with a hand like A9 or better)

River: Qs; ($15.25, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks.

Results:
Final pot: $15.25

Read loads of posts from the uNL essential section and SSNL master sticky. If you used to play limit then there are some good posts for people switching from limit to NL in those stickys. Also switch to 6-max instead of FR, if you want to play FR then post hands in the FR forum, uNL=6max.

As above.

In this hand:
-don't min raise preflop. 4BBs is a good starting point.
-don't overvalue AT in NL FR since you can lose quite a lot if outkickered
-if you do hit TP think about ways of keeping the pot small with a hand that is either dominating or dominated. e.g. you could just call this potsize bet and then check the rest of the way.
-don't bet less than half pot unless you want a call very badly.

So you are saying min-raising A10o with 6 players still to act is a decent play?! PF is a clear fold imo, the fact that you got 5 folds and a call from BB was an extremely good result.

As played I call the flop bet and try to get a cheap show-down as there is a good chance that I am dominated. If you do choose to raise make it more, I will pretty much never bet less than 1/2 the pot (as bozzer said) and if you REALLY want a call I wouldnt bet less as it is so easy to read.

Did I say that it was?

I don't play FR so I didn't comment on that. I did however give OP some other handy tips which is what he was probably hoping for when he posted an HH.

fold AT preflop in FR, if you raise make it _at least_ 3BB
as played bet more on the turn (at least half pot)
river check behind is fine

Seriously???

I pop it in an unraised pot from MP and LP. How bad?

AT should only be folded if you're UTG or UTG+1
