Reading faster

Have you ever used a book/program/method to become a faster reader? Did it work for you? I see a lot of infomercials for this sort of thing, e.g. the IQ program, and I've also heard about this from friends now and again...anyway, it would be sweet to read lots faster, so do please share your secrets.

Didnt there used to be some kind of sales commercial on TV about people being able to read super fast a long time ago?

Depends on what it is that you want to read fast, and what purpose you are reading for. If you're reading data or figures for work, there are some tricks that might get you a little faster. If you are reading to retain information or for enjoyment, the only way that really works is to read a lot.
