travel suggestions?
 

I am going to travel for the next few months playing poker and hopefully have a profitable holiday. I have earned a steady income from the casino games here in Australia and after a few people have told me the games in Vegas generally aren't any tougher to beat I've decided to make that my first destination.

Beyond that, I don't know, so I'm looking for suggestions on where to go when I've had enough of Vegas.

I can go anywhere in the world, and the time period I'm doing this over is indefinite. I only play holdem, and will live with limit but much prefer mid level no limit games, so a casino with holdem in it close by is pretty much my only mandatory requirement. Soft games are always nice, but I don't mind playing in tougher games if its a nice place to have a holiday.

PS - Within the next week I'll be booking my accomodation in vegas. I just want a nice cheap room to crash in. Any recommendations on this?

Stay at the Stardust if you are willing play 3hrs of 3-6 LHE or 1-2 NL which occationally runs, poker rate is $30. If you don't want to do the poker rate thing I recommend the Palace Station, free shuttle to the strip stops accross from Wynn. The only other American casino city worth seeing IMO is LA, worth the extra bucks for lodging, lots to see, plenty of action from what I hear.

I do believe there is poker in the San Francisco Bay area, and that's definitely worth seeing. Can probably stir up some action in Chicago as well. New Orleans used to be worth going to.

After that, I would think London or Paris would be next.

I'll probably visit most of the major US cities while I'm in the country. London and Paris were a given also. But I also want to go to places a bit more exotic, like maybe Aruba, Monte Carlo, or even a cruise ship.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a poker rate? Like a time charge? And I assume $30 is per table per hour???

Dublin has great pot limit games, although the one I played in was mixed hold em/Omaha high so knowing the rudiments of Omaha helped. I played at the Fitzwilliam Card Club, although there are others in town. It is also a great city.

The poker rate is a discount hotel rate you get in return for agreeing to play in that casino's poker room for a fixed amount of time per day.

Many people told me about great pot limit games in Dublin. I was in Paris last month and games weren't tough, but most of the Aviaton Club staff, players and Parisians in general suck.

Poker rate refers to a discount on your hotel room. if you play three hours of poker per day at the Stardust, your hotel room costs $30.

Many Casinos offer a discount on hotel rooms to poker players.
