10NL JJ facing a raise preflop
 

Two questions - should I have raised preflop and/or on the flop, and what to do on the turn push? I hate the way I played this hand start to finish.

I like reraise pf to $1.8, and fold if he pushes all in (depending of course on his stats and your reads).

From the rest of the hand this looks like you are up against a big PP, I'd say anywhere from 99-AA. Realistically though, the way you played this hand his range is pretty wide and its tough to know if your overpair is good.

I'd say definitely fold to that turn bet as played.

I'm kind of confused by the $1 flop bet. If he had QQ-AA wouldn't he have bet a lot more after a flop like that?

I think anything over 1/2 pot could be those big PP's, though I agree usually they would bet closer to the pot.

Not everyone plays big PP's perfectly though.

yep, fold. I think you see a big pp most of the time here. he's hammering the turn because it was a safe card and at this point he is probably putting you on a draw.

JJ is the 4th best hand in the game. It means it does not get much better.You have to raise prelop. You have to raise flop.

He probably hit his set on the turn.

also he made a 6x raise preflop which for some reason people do with AA a lot.

Looking back on it, the hand reeks of AK-AJ. I didn't have much of a read on him, but he raises with one of those hands, c-bets about half the pot when he misses, puts me on some kind of draw (maybe KQ spades?) or a pair, and decides on the turn he doesn't want me drawing or that he wants me to lay down my 9 so he pushes it all in. Not exactly optimal play, but that really isn't to be expected at this level.

If he had a big PP, then the dollar bet was designed to keep me in the hand. That turn certainly wouldn't have scared him into pushing.

I think I should have rereised PF like ihtfp [edit:and everyone else]said. Big PP's probably repop me or at least the $1 bet on the flop becomes a check or a bigger bet and I have an easier decision.
