Mirror flirting?

So my significant other reads cosmo and crap and she has this thing about mirror flirtng, basically if I am talking to someone of the opposite sex and I make a similar movement or the other person does she thinks it is flirting. Even if this is true wouldn't it be sub-concious?

So how do I prove this is BS?

what you are saying is generally accepted in the psych community.

mirroring is pleasing to the person being mirrored and aotbh one is attracted to someone mirroring them

Okay, as a girl who does crazy things myself, I hate to say this, but that is freakin' psycho!

I learned in a communications class that we mimic the movements of people we talk to, to show we are listening. Maybe Cosmo interpreted that study to mean you do it when you like someone. Either way, if she is worth it, do the reasearch and battle the Cosmo "scientfic facts" with real scientific facts. Also, maybe try to catch her when she is doing it and tease her about it being flirting. She might see how ridiculous she is being.

When two people mirror each other, it just shows they are on the same page. You probably do this all the time with your gf, friends, and even your mom. Deliberately mirroring people can help you build rapport. This is a big thing in NLP. Basically if your gf thinks you're flirting with random chicks just because the two of you are making similar movements, she's psycho and you should get rid of her.

P.S. OP, in case my original wording was too confusing, I just meant try to catch her when she is "mirroring" and then tease her about it. Hopefully she will realize how crazy she is being. Good luck.
