Could be generation specific, but for my money Christmas is not Christmas until I have seen the animated 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas.' It is Chuck Jones at his best and who doesn't just love Max the dog.

Any Lawrence Welk Christmas show. Especially ones from the 70's because the program is funnier in color. The annual Christmas shows were special because the talent-impaired performers would bring their untalented children. The atmosphere was enjoyably tense as the kids understood that one wrong note or incorrect dance step would mean an ass whipping after the show.

I'd like to see more of these, but PBS seems to run the same episode year after year. Or maybe they just all look the same. Avoid the newer reunion shows, where they ruin the Christmas spirit by getting all religious.

In theory, the Kathie Lee Gifford specials should be action-packed as well, but I don't think I've actually seen one.
