How much broadband allowance does playing poker online use per hour?

I guess that you're asking how much bandwidth a poker site uses? Not much.

But I definitely would not use dial up for multi-tabling.

BiPolar from these forums experimented to see how many tables he could open on a broadband connection before it crapped over, and he got up to about 30-something before they started having issues. But even then it wasn't due to their internet connection, but instead system resources.

Yea, I thought it was you when I was posting, and saw it was then...so I edited my post to give you credit right before you replied.

And about the dialup...I guess it would depend on a number of things for that connection.

I have seen really good dialup connections that run great, and I have seen the same ISP's connection run horribly at a different location. Today, for the price of any broadband connection, it's pointless to go dialup...that is unless you can't get anything else in your area.

DSL finally became available in my area; I got hooked up during the very week all the sites were going down to Americans. /sigh

Poker uses very little bandwidth, it's the stability of the connection that matters. I had played on dial-up from different parts of the country since the early days of Planet Poker ... had to try a few different ISPs in each area to find one that was stable ... it really only took an hour or two to determine that a particular ISP was no good for poker. Turned out to be the local/regional providers were much more stable than the nationals ... I'd go months between problem disconnects.

I haven't really noticed any difference in poker with DSL but, of course, high speed is very nice for other stuff.
