Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
A couple of good teams on byes this week for most of us.
Chicago Tennessee St. Louis New Orleans San Francisco Baltimore I have Chicago D and Gould. I've picked up Scobee (vs Houston) and New England D (vs Buffalo) Available options: K: Feely vs @Dal Vanderjagt vs NYG Lindell vs NE Def: NYJ vs Det Det vs NYJ NYG vs Dal Ind vs Was TB vs Phi None of the options look that great. My other options for my team are: RB (pick 2): Bell vs @Cle C. Williams vs Phi Green vs @Mia I'm thinking Bell and Cadillac. WR (pick 3): Roy W vs @ NYJ Walker vs @ Cle Stallworth vs@ TB Evans vs NE Edwards vs Den I'm thinking Stallworth if healthy, Walker and Roy W. Next is Evans last is Edwards. Annoyance of having a kicker and def with bye same week is I had to drop 2 players (Plummer, sucks and Droughns, sucks so far). I guess I'll try differently next year but Gould and Chicago are so good. Edwards |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
I asked about this in the FF Trade thread, but didn't get too much feedback, and I need to make a decision by tonight.
I currently have three trade offers on the table, all involving Travis Henry. I offered him up to my entire league after his great Week 6 performance, looking for another RB in return so I can take care of bye-week issues for this week (I'm extremely thin at RB2 this week). Which offer is the best for my situation? My main purpose of trading is to solidify an RB2 for Week 7, but one of these offers is really good for me long term. Offer #1: Corey Dillon for Travis Henry Offer #2: Marion Barber for Travis Henry Offer #3: Reggie Bush and Michael Turner for Travis Henry Here is my team (12-team, H2H, standard CBS SportsLine scoring league, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST): Carson Palmer Ron Dayne Deuce McAllister (BYE) LaDainian Tomlinson Jerious Norwood Travis Henry (BYE) Musa Smith (BYE) Donald Driver Joey Galloway Lee Evans Marvin Harrison Jason Witten Nate Kaeding DST Broncos Team #1: Peyton Manning Vince Young Brett Favre Cedric Benson Warrick Dunn Corey Dillon Santana Moss Roy Williams T.J. Houshmandzadeh Chris Baker Heath Miller Lawrence Tynes DST Rams DST Saints Team #2: Rex Grossman Michael Vick Reuben Droughns Rudi Johnson Marion Barber Clinton Portis Darrell Jackson Derrick Mason Anquan Boldin Alex Smith Dallas Clark Matt Stover DST Bills DST Vikings Team #3: Philip Rivers Byron Leftwich Maurice Jones-Drew Edgerrin James Reggie Bush Michael Turner Reggie Williams Terry Glenn Jerricho Cotchery Kellen Winslow Jeremy Shockey Mike Vanderjagt DST Steelers DST Seahawks In offer #1, I get an RB for a good team, but his role is diminishing and he doesn't have much upside. In offer #2, I get a RB who doesn't even have the starting role for his team, but he puts up consistent numbers and usually gets action. In offer #3, I get handcuffs for my #1 and #2 RBs, however, I would have to start Michael Turner along with LaDainian Tomlinson for Week 7, as Reggie Bush is on a bye. Thoughts on each offer? Since I'm playing the best team in the league this week, should I try to maximize the trade value for this week only, or for down the road? Thanks. |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
Capone,
I think you have everything figured out already Toohigh, I'd take Bush&Turner |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
QB: Vick or Roethlisburger to fill in this week and backup Brees for the rest of the year?
RB: Starting Bell @Cleveland. McGahee vs. NE or Jordan vs. Arizona in the #2 slot? WR: Starting Harrison & R.Williams. Evans vs. NE or R. Moss vs. Arizona in the #3 slot? Leaning towards Jordan & Moss (shiver) I hope last night was a mirage for the Cards D. |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
The options are keep Henry or #3. I don't like #3 that much although Bush has gotten a lot of catches. It seems that Henry is on the UP UP due to Young being on the field. They have run very well their last 2 weeks.
Let's look at schedules: Henry: Bye Houston-Great Matchup Jack-Horrible Matchup Balt-Horrible @Phil-Decent Matchup NYG-Decent Matchup Indy-Great Matchup Houston-Great Jack-Horrible Buffalo-Good Matchup NE (not sure if you go here)-Bad Matchup So you have 4 Good Great / 3 Horrible and 2 Decent Bush- Balt-Bad TB-Decent/Bad (they are good against the pass bad against the run) Pittsburgh-Bad Cincy-Great Atlanta-Decent SF-Great Dallas-Decent Washington-Decent NYG-Good Carolina-Decent So you have 3 bad, 2 great and 5 decent. I'd honestly stick with Henry. I don't trust Turner and this year Henry is better than Bush atleast when healthy. He's lost weight and I regret not picking him up. |

Re: capone
Wow, great analysis, thanks. The thing that sucks is that I'm desperate for an RB2 this week and I really don't wanna have to choose between starting Ron Dayne and Jerious Norwood. I really like Henry's future potential too, but some factors worry me. First, he plays for the Titans (obv.). Also, he isn't very durable and gets injured easily. Also, would I be starting him over Deuce McAllister enough to warrant hanging on to him? At least with offer #3 I get handcuffs, so my #1 and #2 RB spots will be secure for the entire year, but this offer wasn't really what I was looking for as far as my current needs. Should I be shopping Deuce McAllister instead? My gut says no, it's too much of a gamble to ride out Henry. If offers #1 & 2 aren't good enough, what kind of RB could I get straight up for Henry? Thanks. |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
Who is your opponent in week 7?
What do they have? I don't like sacrificing good players for 1 week of winning unless your that desperate. Travis has good matchups in a couple of weeks. He should start over McAlister in week 8 (balt), week 10 (Pitts) although both matchups are terrible, week 13 (both are good matchups), week 14, week 16 (both not great but I'd rather go against buffalo then the Gaints). |

Who is your opponent in week 7? What do they have? [/ QUOTE ] LOL, you'll love this: Donovan McNabb Brad Johnson Tiki Barber LenDale White Joesph Addai Brian Westbrook Hines Ward Mike Furrey Steve Smith Muhsin Muhammad Alge Crumpler John Kasay DST Eagles DST Bears This isn't a divisional game, so him winning doesn't negatively affect my team other than the fact I get a loss. However, I'm only 3-3 right now, and 1 game behind in a DEEP wild-card race. Obviously I need all the points I can get this week, but maybe keeping Henry is the best idea if I think that I have ZERO chances of winning this week, but I just hate that attitude. I actually offered this team Henry LAST week, offering Henry and Joey Galloway for Joesph Addai. He declined. |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
If your still dying for this week alone I guess you go with Dillon. I dont like it a lot though.
The worst run D's not on bye this week are the following: Indy Oakland Houston Jets Cleveland Tampa I can't see you getting Jordan but I guess you can try. An owner might be that desperate. You could go after either of the Indy backs or go after Washington who is probally the #1 runner for the Jets now. Tatum is going to be a hard pull right now, so I doubt you can get him. You probally in the same boat with getting Westbrook against Tampa. |
Re: Official Week 7 Fantasy Football Thread
Well I just noticed that my opponent has Chicago DST (averaging 22 FPTS a game) and Muhsin Muhammad on a bye this week, so that certainly helps my cause.
I actually thought I was OVERvaluing Henry, but your first response really got me, especially considering his future matchups. Unfortunately, it is doubtful that any other owner will recognize Henry's true value while trading. Let's assume I don't trade. I'd probably go with Jerious Norwood vs PIT. It's pretty much hit or miss with Norwood, so I'd cross my fingers that he gets some action. Also, Brandon Jacobs and Noah Herron are available on waivers, but I highly doubt either of them would fall to me (I'm 9th out of 12 on the waiver wire). So worst case scenario, I'm starting Norwood as my RB2. If you had to put a line on my game this week (assuming I start Norwood), how big of an underdog do you think I'd be? FWIW, there are five 3-3 teams (including mine), one 4-2 team, and two 2-4 teams in the wildcard race. A loss would really put me in a bad spot. Also, the 4-2 team is playing one of the other 3-3 teams, and IME, he's a definite favorite (the other team has a legitimate shot at winning though, it is FF after all). |
