Btw, when I hit send this to my rep., my computer just sits there. Is something supposed to happen? Do we get cc'd on the email (cuz' I don't see it in my inbox).

Yeah, kind of strange that they launch this campaign after saying they're pulling out come bill signage. Are they trying to make it look like they attempted something to deflect some of the criticism?

Yeah, a day late and a dollar short. I sent it nevertheless. But not without significant edits:

I am very unhappy that Congress recently passed legislation that prohibits me from playing poker on the Internet. Legislation that impacts millions online poker players in the United States deserves more debate than a back-room deal.

Poker is what I like to do for entertainment, just like a round of golf or going to a movie. Online poker sites allow me to play inexpensively and conveniently. I can play an online tournament for as little as $1 or $2 with a 10 or 20 cent fee to the house. At a casino or cardroom, playing a tournament would cost me much, much more with drastically higher fees for the house. It would require a lot of travel time and take away much more time from my family.

I don't like playing poker for significant sums of money; I don't like to spend time in casinos filled with slot machines, craps, blackjack, and other forms of gambling that offer little or no chance for skill to affect the outcome; and I don't like the time required to play poker in casinos and cardrooms.

Online poker sites provide a valuable service to poker players. There is a lot of innuendo that online poker sites support terrorism, money laundering, and forms of criminal enterprise. These accusations are purely sloganeering and attempts to smear the online poker world.

The fact is, online sites make the great game of poker accessible to people who would not otherwise be able to play, and it does it in a way to is very inexpensive compared to "real world" alternatives.

I am urging you to support amending this new Internet gambling law so that it has an exemption for poker. Please note, that other forms of Internet gambling such as horseracing, lotteries and fantasy sports are already protected under this law. An exemption for poker is not unreasonable, it is good public policy and would help preserve and protect an American tradition.

I look forward to your support for a poker exemption.

Sincerely,

Me
