chess on the web question

Where can you play blitz games for free and earn a rating. Everywhere I checked is either free but doesn't have a rating system or costs loot for a premium membership.

Thanks for any info.

lots of places
iwin.com
yahoo
pogo
etc
the rating is worthless, so theres no point
theres places with better servers that you can play unrated for free, others can elaborate

Thanks.

The rating is just for me to see if any improvement is taking place.

Not to hijack, but chess players, if you're interested in starting to play competitive chess and get much better, what paysite should you play at that's considered the best?

Judging by the population of Grandmasters, chess.net. You can watch GMs and IMs play blitz 24 hours a day. They also have live silumcasts where you can sweat the biggest games with other interested people, which usually includes at least one IM.

Youre right, it's been so long I mixed them up. ICC is way better.
