Opponent here is fairly aggressive but not stupidly so. He doesnt have a great record prior to this game.

On the flop there is 90+90+ 120 = 300 before it's your turn to act . You were the original raiser and yet he's bet into you another 120 on the flop . I believe a healthy raise on the flop is in order here in the hopes that he may have a middle pocket pair that may pay you off . It makes your turn decisions much easier once you put the onus back on him . Now in this instance , you're in a quandary as to what to do .

How aggressive has this opponent been so far ? Certainly there is no correct way to deal with a situation like this . Much of your decision has nothing to do with your hole cards and every bit to do with your opponents tendencies .

if my opponent just called on the flop i would be able to confidently read him for an overpair like TT+ or a spade draw. the spades got there on the turn but they don't slow him down. at the same time he can't have the nut flush since you have the As. i feel like he has 33, 22 or maybe 44, broadway spades for the flush (JT+) are also squarely in his range. i'd fold.

no way he has 33, 22, or 44 and I find it hard to believe that he has a flush here i would put him on 56, 46 or an overpair....CALL

Yeah, if this guy has a hand like a flush or a full house, he'd slowplay a bit more, rather than going all-in and getting no value. He might bet out and bet the turn, but not an all-in bet. The all-in bet says "I'm protecting something vulnerable" like red Tens or something. I would call, and expect to see a smaller overpair.

i think he has an overpair + flush draw. call expecting to see 7s7h.

Have to call, no way he puts you on an overpair after that flop call. You're probably way ahead more often than behind there. Even if you are behind you have outs.

I would have reraised the flop to 420 though and hope the money goes allin there with him having 55+. Another spade coming off might kill your action.

Well, the way I figured it was that I was not vulnerable to many cards, so why not give a free card and make it seem like I am on the flush draw? If he has a 2, I am screwed either way. If a spade comes, it might even slow him down so that we dont have to get it all in with me as an underdog. If he has a 3, its unlikely we're going to get it all in anyway.

So I gave him a free card. The third spade hits and he pushes. I honestly put him on and overpair with a spade draw too, to which I am a huge favorite. I also thought he might have a 3xKs, 4xKs, something like that.

He actually had 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. River blanked and I lost. I'm not unhappy with the way I played it. GG him, I guess.

Comments on my thought process?

I think you are vulnerable to a lot of cards but I like the idea of trying to make it seem like you are weak. As played, I don't see how you can get away from this hand. I think posting the hand history will be helpful.
