Hourly rate for $1/$2 game

In a $1/$2 holdem limit game, if you are paying a $3 rate, $.50 jackpot rake, and $1.00 tip per winning hand, what should a good player be able to average per hour? Thanks in advance.

$2 - $6 an hour is my guess. That's one to three BB's.

1-2 LIMIT? Yikes.

Minimum wage, maybe.

Do you mean $1/2 limit, or a limit game with $1/2 blinds? I don't see how you can beat the rake and tip at a $1/2 limit game. If you beat the game for 15BB/100 before rake, you're making $30/100 hands. If you win 8 pots in those 100 hands (roughly 3 hrs of play), you'll pay $4.50*8=$36 in rake+tip. Net loss, $2/hr.

Even at $2/4 stakes ($1/$2 blinds), you need to beat the game for 9BB/100 before rake to break even. This is quite possible, but you need 12BB/100 before rake to make $4/hr at 2/4. That's a big number. Not an impossible number, but big. If the game is softer than 25-50 cent online (quite likely for 2/4), profit is possible.

If you're talking about the florida $1/$2 games I expect to make more than minimum wage, but still not a ton. Maybe $10+ an hour. These games are just stupid, 9-10 players to a flop, $50+ average pots, since that's the only limit allowed in florida(at least to my knowledge). Not sure if those have changed.

It is possible to make money but the rake is ridiculous and the suckouts horrendous. I actually prefer a table with several good players I know. It can be done but the rake being raised to 5 has chased me online. I need to make a trip soon though as I feel my game is better than ever after 30k hands...

I would be really surprised if you could earn 5BB/hr in a high-rake 1/2 limit game.
The super-donkey action gives you SOME profitability but it also slows the game down.

Good chance you are getting 33 hds/hr or less.

So 5BB/hr would be the same as 15BB/100 hds.
And to win this much AFTER the high-rake, jackpot drop, and occasional tip would be nearly impossible imo no matter how bad the opposition.

Yeah I don't see the ability to make money at this game. The amount of money sucked out each hand is over 2BB. Seems like too much to overcome. Adding the fact that you only get in ~30-35 hands an hour at 3BB/100 hands (which I don't think is possible with this rake) you're only making $2 an hour. Definitely doesn't seem like a game to play for money.

I'd never want anyone to play above their bankroll, but although 1/2 is pretty crushable (read Small Stakes Hold'em for how), it's not for making money, it's for learning the game so you can move up and make money.

Play good and don't worry about your hourly; worry about making good decisions.

Another problem is that if you're not careful, you will develop very bad tendencies due to ridiculous suckouts and seeing pot after pot dragged by some idiot who cold-called 3bets preflop with 32o. I play the 1/2 game in Florida regularly and I've often been unable to stop myself from playing hands like 65o, J2s, KTo UTG, and other stupid crap due to tilt. I've since vowed to not play anymore until I reevaluate my game and get rid of all these horrendous holes.
