2 hands as the kill

20/40 home game with a 1/2 kill that plays like small stakes, 8-handed.

Most of the table is semi-loose passive. Villian is a maniac who raises 50% of hands and 90% of unopened pots, but has good post-flop instincts and is willing to get away from a flop he raised. Tommy is weak tight. Manny is loose and passive, not raising until he is a sure winner.

Hand 1:
Manny folds. Hero checks kill with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Tommy calls. 1 fold. Villian raises. button folds. SB and BB fold. Hero calls. Tommy calls.

Flop (7 SB): 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero checks. Tommy checks. Villian bets. Hero raises. Tommy folds. Villian calls.

Turn (5.5 BB): J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks. Villian checks.

River(5.5 BB): 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks. Villian checks.

Hand #2:

Hero checks UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds. Villian Raises. All fold to BB. Manny calls. Hero folds.

I generally play agressively as the kill, but in both of these cases, I was out of position and didn't particularly want to kill again. I also knew that the maniac would almost certainly raise if I didn't and often raise if I did, so I didn't see a huge advantage to raising. I know Ed Miller talks about playing more aggressively with dead money in the pot, including when you posted it, but does that apply the same to a kill, where if you when you have to repost?
