no tools, just playing

i play two or three games at a time (nl 5-10, nl 10-20) and don't use poker tracker.

i'm more old school and don't want to analize stats...i feel like by watching and note taking i can get the info i need about the other players..

is PT necessary if you only play two or three games at a time? is it so great that i'm stupid not to try and use it??

I'm pretty sure there's lots of High Stakes players who do not use pokertracker. El Diablo springs to mind.

You could try posting in the high stakes NL forum and see what kind of responses you get.

my guess is that these guys have the tools for their game and OP doesn't.

ANyways I think you are fine without PT if you are only playing 2 or 3 tables. I think it's essential for anything over 4 though. And if you play for income it's worth the investment. Very easy to see what's going on with your money with just a few button clicks, ie. BB/100, hourly wage, monthly wage, what stakes you beat, break even or lose at, etc..

I've played full time for 3 years, have often multitables, and don't use any tools....its not necessary.

I think that poker tracker is worth the $50 simply because it makes managing your finances sooo much simpler. You don't need to look at the stats.
