i was torn between pushing and raising. raise + cbet looks scary, push looks a lot easier

ALL in or raise 350 or you might get pushed around or drawn out on by a bigger stack -

yeah, r+c costs almost half your stack. i like a push.

I like a raise & a c-bet here. That way you can get away from your hand cheaply if re-raised preflop, unless you have reads that you are beating a villain's range. I also like that you raised to 250. Ace Eleven, raising to 350 is a bad idea here IMO. You are committing to much of your stack. If you're gonna raise to 350 you might as well push.

Re: ($27) AJ push or raise ?

I overpushed with ~12-13 BB in a $27 yesterday and got called by something like A8s. The push is likely +EV, anyway; it makes the rest of the hand really easy; and every-so-often there's a crazy call. For me, that all adds up to pushing, even if it isn't "real poker". Of course, we're not talking about "real poker", we're talking about SNGs.

I like the push better as well

IMO 350 is much beter a bet than 250 as the BB will think much harder about calling another 250 than 150, especially if player has been tight.

Re: ($27) AJ push or raise ?

By making it 350 you just bloat the pot for the flop when you have a short stack. This is not a good idea. By making it 350 preflop you pretty much have tio committ youself with any c-bet you make. By making it 250 preflop you can bet 250-300 on the flop & get away from the hand if you're behind w/ around 800 chips or so, where you maintain some fold equity.

BTW, if it is common for people to call a push with A8s in this spot then I think a push is probably better.

[/ QUOTE ]Not common, just happens every-so-often.

Re: ($27) AJ push or raise ?

depends who is pushing.

I favor a push, however 250 does not tell me "Strong Hand"

I still like 350 better that 250 here. Blinds are much more likely to fold to this bet IMO

Hope these posts helped.

PEACE
