WPX Rake Question???
 

I have heard from some people that the rake back you get from the WPX is only what YOU as the player put intop the pot, and others have told me that it is the total rake in the pot divided by the number of players that were dealt cards that hand (not that contributed)

does anyone have a clear and correct answer to this?

I reacently Emailed WPEX about this, got the reply

Hello Piers,

Presently we are distributing the rake taken equally amongst the players dealt in the hand. The rake isn’t just taken after a hand is completed and before a pot is awarded; rather, the house takes the rake from the pot incrementally after each round of betting in a hand. Therefore, the rake is essentially “paid” by everyone involved in a pot, not just the winner of each hand.

We are however in the process if of implimenting a protortional system.

When I emailed them, I was told that you have to have contributed to the pot up to the first rake, in order to get rakeback for that hand.

If they implement this, it will be -EV for good players.

Probably.

Except that there are many players there who are actually too tight.
It will be really bad for the 8/3 or 12/4 players but probably not so bad for appropriately aggressive players in the 19/13 range.

In other words, it hurts the tightest players at the table the most who are getting the best rake-back situation based on everyone else's looser play.
I've never been close to the tightest player at any table I've played at WPEX so the RB change for me might not be that significant.

On short-handed tables it might even work slightly to my benefit (probably not...but it's possible).

I would still prefer they do it as they currently do it. But after thinking about it I've decided it won't be too catastrophic if they change it.


wharfrat - the cust-serv rep who responded to you was misinformed. We've determined that they don't currently do it this way even though some of their support people think they do.
