IRS audited my 2004 return- conclusion
Hi folks.
I posted three and a half months ago about the IRS proposing to change my 2004 poker income from "other income" to schedule C, thus forcing me to pay the self-employement tax. Here is a link to the original thread, including my respose to the IRS: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...rue#Post5434190 Well roughly 2 months after sending a response, I finally got word back- they are "pleased to inform me" that they will not be making an adjustment to my return. No further records necessary; they just accepted my explanation of why I was not a pro. Happy day. 2nd |

Congradulations! What was your reasoning for not being a pro? [/ QUOTE ] In the link in the OP, a few responses down, he shows what he wrote to the IRS. Summary (i may be missing something) was that he played on average 9 hours a week and went several weeks without playing. His claim was that this is indicitive of it being a hobby, not a profession. |
