Moving Up....1/.2 to .25/.50 ?

My PokerStars BR stands at ~ 177$ currently. Till now I have been playing .1/.2 Limit, started with 100$.

I have 5300 hands at .1/.2, at 7.3BB/100, which means I did run good.

I have not learnt everything, but I feel I can handle .25/.50 at PS with 300+BB in my BR.

Should I move up, or should I spend more time on .1/.2?

Move up. Going to have to do it eventually.

.25/.50 was noticeably tougher than .10/.20, but it was still very beatable.

I say move up. I recently took a shot going from .1/.2 to .25/.50 on stars. I had a horrendous run of bad beats and have temporarily moved back down to .1/.2, but in my brief time there, I didn't really notice much difference in the level of play.

In fact, often times, the % of players to the flop is even higher on .25/.50 than it is on .1/.2

I'd move up. Ive been considering playing on stars more now they have resizable tables and the lobby stats indicate the 25c/50c can be loosey goosey.

edit: What I mean in the last few weeks when Ive looked at stars lobby, its not till I look at 50c/1 and above that I start to see tables with VPIPs in the 20s. Disclaimer: yes, it all depends on time of day etc

And anyway once youve played in a few tight games (eg whilst whoring at party etc) youll come to appreciate that a 30% VPIP really isnt that bad

you might also consider playing at Paradise since you can clear the bonus on the 25c/50c tables there. When I played their soft 25c/50c games I think I cleared the bonus at a rate of $100 per 500 dealt hands.

I agree with TarHeel, I played about 6K each at .1/.2 and .25/.5 before moving up, and .1/.2 definitely seemed tighter and more aggressive than .25/.5 for some reason. You should have no problem moving up.

Well, already hit a downswing.

When I moved up I had no margin for error and it feels pretty tough when you are going up 250%.

To help alleviate the emotional stress of losing my precious babies that much faster I played two table at the lower limit for a bit to feel comfortable or until I made up about 10 bb for the higher level (5 bucks)

Then I would look for a good table with 30 to 40 percent seeing a flop.

I would then be able to sit through a swing or two without getting too upset. The ten bb cushion was usually enough to handle a few bad beats.

Even though the cards are the same at higher levels they don't feel the same and so emotionally I had to know that I could make the same plays I was used to making at the lower level.

My barometer was pocket JJ's. If I feel uncomfortable reraising from CO or Button with JJ then I am at too high a level.
