Stars 100NL, set on flop, deep stacks
Villain in this hand had ~600BB when I sat down. He seemed pretty solid and wasn't playing many hands, and he hasn't been 3-betting preflop much.
I had one big hand against him where I got most of my stack. He raised preflop with TT, I reraised with KK. Flop was 973, I potted it, turn J, I bet and he raised all-in and I called (the raise wasn't very big relative to the pot at that time). On to the hand... Stars $100NL, effective stacks $300 Hero (SB) 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain (BB) Folded to Hero, Hero raises $3.5, Villain reraises to $10, Hero calls. Flop: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets $15, Villain raises $45, Hero raises $120... At the time, I was trying to make my hand look like 77+ and I was hoping he would go broke with AA or KK. Afterwards, I started to think that AA or KK put in a lot of money either way, and so I should try to get more value in case he has a hand like TT-QQ. So how was the flop 3-bet? Should I have called and bet turn, or something else? |

Check raise the flop, he might put you all in.

looks fine to me. shove turn

Re: Stars 100NL, set on flop, deep stacks
Leading the flop is correct here, there's a lot of money in the two stacks to try to maneuver into the middle, so you might as well get the process started ASAP.
Once he raises, I'd call with the intention of checkraise pushing the turn. I love me the stack-a-donk play. |
Re: Stars 100NL, set on flop, deep stacks
I don't have a huge problem with this play. He could be doing that with AKd but my read would put him on a top pp as well. To get more value I would call and bet the turn hard. He can get away from a big pocket pair with your three bet. If you bet the turn hard you are going to make more money. Looks like a stop and go. If the turn wasen't scary, I would go for the cr.

Looks fine. Villain re-raised you preflop and on the flop, so he likes his hand. I like leading the flop and 3-betting. You have the best hand. Get it in now. I hope he pushed the flop.

You need to get the money in here as fast as you can. You dont want a scare card like the 4 of diamonds or something to come off and chase away your action. I like your play. Push the turn.

Villain folded to the 3-bet.

I could see just callin his raise with the plan to c/r the turn

I could see just callin his raise with the plan to c/r the turn [/ QUOTE ] This would be absolutely terrible. Villain most likely has an overpair and their are huge number of action killing turns. Villain is also much more likely to believe that Hero just has an overpair if he shows lots of aggresion on the flop as opposed to the turn. |
