HomePokerGames.com

Just wondering if anybody here has used this site, and whether they ever ran into problems with the people they met, or the games they have played. Feels like a pretty dumb question but I just turned 18 a few months ago and my parents are still pretty weird when it comes to me and playing poker, and when they get worried they always put these questions and doubts in my head so I would really appreciate any responses.

Thanks

I found a game through that site. Exchanged some e-mail, got an address and time for a game, went and knocked on the door. No problems.

As far as your parents feeling weird: They're parents and they're worried you might gamble yourself to hell. Why? Because they're good parents.

Just do what I did (with girlfriend, not parents, but same concern is present) and promise that you'll keep the gamb00l in check, and that you'll be safe.

Basically, that comes down to
a) Only taking money you can afford to lose [and have that be the only money on you, so they won't worry about you being tempted]
b) Leaving if you feel threatened (bad neighborhood, one of the players, etc.)

Still, meeting anyone over the Internet in a non-public place has its risks, so be careful.

I've had two good experiences and a neutral experience (i.e., couldn't find anyone for a game) with that site. Never a bad experience in a huge sample size of three.

If in doubt, though, don't be afraid to take some precautions. Only bring a small amount of money your first time. (Yeah, you'll look like a dork if you bust out; so what?) Ask around and see if you can find anyone who's played in this game.

I'm probably more trusting than I should be. But keep your eyes open for cheats and you should be fine.

Doubtfull they'd care, as long as your cash is green. If you look hard you can probably find a U18 homegame. I hear poker is all the rage with kids these days.
