OT: November: 1st time in Vegas for me: where to stay on strip?
Nov 2-5th (Thurs night to Sunday). Need a hotel for 3 nights somewhere on the strip. Will be going with a big group of friends so may have 3 or 4 people in the room.
Suggestions? Some people are staying at the Pyramid rooms at Luxor, thoughts on that? Thanks!! Let the Vegas fund build. Time to start playinf some serious poker starting next week!! |

I'm going in August with some friends and we got the poker rate at the Wynn. The rate for weekdays is $130 and weekends is $200 and you have to play 6 hours a day total as a room. The place looks pretty nice and I've heard good things. 640 sq. ft. rooms.

stay at the wynn, 130 a night for weeknights is a great deal. hotel is great and the poker room is soft plus you can access the waiting list from your hdtv in your room so no wasting money on -ev games while waiting. The best location on the strip is probably caesars, ballys and harrahs cause they are right in the center on the strip. I wasnt impressed with the luxor but mandalay bay is right next door and it was nice.

I got a great deal on a Mirage suite last December. It was an "off" week so it was like $200 a night. If you do end up staying at Luxor, for the love of all that's good do not set foot in that poker room unless you are blasted and ready to drop 10 buy-ins at the $50 max buy-in NL game.

I like MgM. Great poker room, and plenty of other stuff. It's also pretty close to Luxor if friends are staying there. It's next to Aladdin (nice room/tournaments), and fairly close to Bellagio.
The Luxor poker room is not the best, and the Luxor is kind of at the end of the strip. The Wynn is nice, but it's toward the other end of the strip...hell and gone from the Luxor. See these maps . |

[/ QUOTE ] I recommend staying at any of the casinos in Vegas that have the word "Coast" in their title. If you are truly a baller like so many on this board I would recommend the inimitable Barbury Coast. All class, baby. |

hah-hah - had roughly the same experience of dropping like $250 playing 2/4 limit while waiting for their $60 tournee to start (and getting blasted in 4 hands with KK against someones JTo).
