lovely situation

20/40 6 handed

good game, loose normal aggression.

i love my seat as the guy to my right raises 90% of the time it folds to him in SB (call him LAG villian here) and i abuse him.

my other notes show he loves to donk draws and pairs, in other words c/r hands in HU defense spots. those notes may be from when i first encountered him.

villian two is fairly unknown to me, however i have seen him open limp once or twice which puts a target on his back.

anyways, the hand.

1 fold, LAG raises, I 3-bet with red aces, villian two caps in the small blind.

3 of us for 6.5 BB's

Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

capper leads, LAG calls, i raise, both call.

3 for 9.5 BB's

8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

check to the LAG and he bets.

the great thing about being a lag is that you get paid off.

I think this is fine. At this point, you're probably relatively way ahead or way behind SB so just let him come along if he wants.

I hate to point it out to you, but this flop just kicked you square in the balls. Any 8, J, or K cripples you, any Q or T should make you pause as well, and you are not in position to protect your hand. I wait for a safe turn card to raise.

The way you played it, call down.

drew-

that is an excellent point. i wish i had thought of it during the heat of battle.

sadly, when playing 3 handed i usually just jam the hell out of my hands and no one believes you. i didn't stop and think of the consequences like i may have if it were a fuller table.

Preflop: Standard

Flop: I'd do the same.

Turn: Tough spot, but I think I'd release here. A jack obviously beats you, and 2 pair is also a likely holding on this sort of board. The fact that the board is a rainbow also lessens the chance your opponent is semi-bluffing.

Just my opinion...

I thought about this as well, but I think raising the flop is the better play. Your flop raise is almost certain to carry +EV. I estimate your pot equity as being about 50% (probably 12-14 or so outs against you combined with a chance that you're already behind), and you only have to be good here a third of the time for your raise to have a postivie expectation. While this is a relatively bad flop for you, I think your edge is still fairly significant, and you can still drop out later if you have to.

Just my opinion...
