intresting
3 hands, I know we all love multi hand posts, but Id rather do this then 3 individual posts. anyway these are within first 8 hands at the table. Villian in hand 1 and 2 is the same. No reads but hes no pro.
as they say, welcome back to limit. Hand 1 4 handed. Preflop: Hero is Button with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls. Flop: (4.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls. going to raise a J thourhg A turn. Turn: (4.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Took him awhile to call. since he did call, this probably means showdown. when he checked to me he could be giving up or wanting to get to the end cheap. I have T high, only way I can win is to bet again on the end of course, the board pairing makes the bet pretty suspect. sometimes best to give up, guess it depends if I fold a better hand 1 in 7.5 times. River: (6.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets Hand 2: 5 handed Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. MP post a blind. 1 fold, MP (poster) checks, Button raises, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, MP calls, Button caps, Hero calls, MP calls. Flop: (12.50 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, MP bets, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, MP calls, Button caps, Hero calls, MP calls. Turn: (11.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, MP folds, Button raises, Hero calls. This could very well be weak for sure, I could c/r turn obv and was a consideration and call the 3bet, but for whatever reason I was dodgy on not wanting to get 3bet. so whatever. Hand 3 5 handed Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls. Flop: (8 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls. Turn: (6 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds, UTG folds. River: (8 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. obv possible value bet. guy seemed passive so Im getting called by any K, J, or low to mid pp. draws fold. Im a thin value bettor and was torn actually. |
Re: intresting
i would 3bet the turn in the set hand.
hand 3 has to be a typo. you have the 3rd nuts. jjj33 > kk333 |
Re: intresting
Hand 3 is a pretty clear value bet for me. No indication he has a K (sure its possible) or a 3, PPs will call, a J will call, and sometimes A high will call. Usually in this situation if he has a K he will bet out on the river even if he was passive enough to not put any extra bets in on the flop and turn.
Hnad 1- once you get there the river bet is alright since you can pick up half the pot against small PPs that otherwise chop. Hand 2- close. you've played your hand like a big Ace so far which could mean you are getting action from AK or AT, the pots pretty bloated and its unlikely he's checking behind on the river, i think a call down is fine. |
Re: intresting
yeah seriously, wtf on hand 3.
I think hand 2 is weak. 5 BB's on the turn and river is fine. |
Re: intresting
dont remember the turn being a jack, so yeah, Im to lazy to see what it was. It was an 8 or 7, something like that.

Re: intresting
Hand 1: Bet for the times he has 22, 33, 44, 76, or straight air like you. Bad players do weird things on paired flops.
Hand 2: With no definitive reads you gotta checkraise the turn here and call down if 3 bet. Hand 3: If the turn was truly a Jack than you missed a huge value bet. If it wasn't a Jack, I still think theres value in a bet here against Ace high flush draws and all pp's. |
Re: intresting
Hand 1 I think is fine to do once in awhile.
Hand 2 I like betting out on the turn because MP's flop donk has to shift his range more towards hands with few enough outs that you'd like to keep him in the hand. 3-bet or call down seems close I'd like to know a bit about this guy, but if he's aggressive at all I'd 3-bet it. Hand 3 does seem pretty close, but if you think he's calling down with any pair here, then I'd bet it. |
Re: intresting
I think not taking the free card on the turn in hand 1 is pretty bad. You're asking that he check-raises you with some sort of bluff and then gives up after you peel a 558 flop? No, bad.
I think pre-flop in hand two is kind of trashy OOP. Playing a big pot OOP against 2 opponents with 66 is a pretty poor situation, and you'll get into it a lot. As for the turn: 9 AT combos (3 way cap pre-flop, so discount however you want), 3 TT combos, 3 AA combos. Stopping here is fine. Hand 3: You realize that JJJ33 beats KK333, right? I have no idea why you're scared of a 3. |
Re: intresting
Hey Oreo,
Hand1: I don't see what hands he could be c/r'ing the flop that are suddenly giving up on the turn now that a J hits... His check looks defensive to me so I'd expect him to be calling my bet the large majority of the time. Given his line I also can't figure out a hand (better than ours) that will play this way but c/f the river, except for a weird pure bluff with something like KQ. Rough hand-ranges seem to indicate that this is a bad bet. I'll check out the others later. Surf |
