Me have KQo, He check then me bet

Villan is 21/10/1.33 over only 100. Seems pretty solid and is probably a slight winner.

A somewhat solid villain who cold calls you preflop and then proceeds to call you down with a raggy board is probably holding a pocket pair. If that's the case, I don't think he's ever folding this river. The only hand that is is another 1 diamond hand like yours.

I check the turn for a free card and fold the river UI. Someone tell me I'm a wuss now.

Re: Me have KQo, He check then me bet

Hmmm... interesting hand. My first instinct is to put him on a flush draw, in which case this is clearly the best line since so often his flush draw will have an A in it.

But then I think that a solid player is not often calling in the BB with an unsuited Ax - he's got to be afraid of being dominated. So that makes him more likely to have a small/mid PP or something like mid suited connectors. A good player should be trying to protect a small pair on this flop, though, so I'd expect a bet out or a check-raise. Would he call the flop with something like 6c8c? I dunno.

Either way, a turn bet necessitates a river bet, since the pot is too big to loose it to the naked A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. So I guess sometimes I'd take the free card and fold the river u/i, and sometimes plays it this way. Maybe this is good time to just flip a coin...

I think most good players fold their low pocket pairs here on the flop unless they have a decent draw. And I think a solid player folds a PP enough of the time unimproved to make the river bet +EV.

What solid villans do you play against that don't protect their small PPs on a 3flush board and only check/call them down?

You bet the turn and only got a call, you gotta bet the river. You are looking at a lone big diamond enough, plus folding out a small pair on the river (some of the time) because of your pre flop raise, to make this bet profitable over the long haul.

Well he didn't really cold call, he was BB and just called 1 bet to him. As a blind defender He is very likely to have an A (a lot of people with defend with Ax), given the action I'd say A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is very likely, still the river bet is scary but I suppose we only need him to fold like 20% of the time? . . . and he will surely fold A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] more than that

I'd put him on a high diamond. He's a pretty aggressive player so I'd think that he'd bet/raise if he felt he was leading despite a 3 flush on the board.

I woulda played it the same.

I don't think I am ever folding a pair on this board not as part of a blind defense- that would ev negative.

Given that you bet the turn, I think I like the river bet.

However, you say the guy is fairly solid...what hands does he call the flop with that now fold to a bet on that turn? I guess I don't see you picking up the pot very often at all given your read and the turn card. Yeah, I know you don't have to pick it up too often to make it right, I just think you are getting called here almost all the time.

Obviously, the problem with checking, is that you will occassionally get bluffed off the best hand on the river.
