Preflop: KK on the button

Perplexed was I.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) internettexasholdem.com

Hero ($101.95)
SB ($82.30)
BB ($39.15)
UTG ($226.77)
MP ($94.40)
CO ($119.05)

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $2</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP raises to $7</font>, CO calls $7, Hero...

UTG is a donkey, I don't care too much about him here.
MP is a tight TAG, 19/10; seems decent.
CO is a nit, 6/3; only 45 hands tho.

Hero's action?

well id be willing to go broke to aa here, so id either reraise preflop, or check raise most flops all in.

edit - ur button so it wouldnt be a checkraise, but a raise

There's only one option: raise.

Well, I certainly wasn't going to fold. If you guys could help me with the perfect raise amount, that would be appreciated.

Raise amount is a bit of a feel. You want the TAG player to call, but you want the donkeys to fold. If the donkeys never fold, then you may as well push hoping one of them is willing to go broke with a worse hand. Basically you're wanting to go heads up on the flop if possible, but you shouldn't be upset if you take down the pot with your raise.

Overall, I can't see calling here as correct/optimal. I think we should see the part where you raise and then take it from there.

CO called to mine a set, most likely. We want the nit out as they aren't paying off our kings unless we both hit sets.

MP likely respects us and will fold to our sizable setmining-denying-odds raise, or if he has us beat will likely reraise us back and we consider the taboo of folding here. We also get more respect for 4betting into two raisers, so we might be able to give a potential 5bet from MP the pocket aces respect if we're capable of such discipline and if MP never gets it in with anything less than KK.

As for UTG, I guess we find out what the unpredictable donk does after we raise.

What is your image here anyways? Does MP respect your play? Been raising a lot or inactive? etc.

MP may well know as well as you about UTG and is making a effort to isolate.

This opens up his re-raise range.

Cut off, I dont know enough about with 45 hands played, however I am guessing AA puts in another raise here.

I put $20-$22 into the pot here.

I am not really expecting UTG to call, but I dont care if he does.
My initial read is he has been dealt two cards.

I am not expecting MP to call if he has been observing the table with a nit to act behind him.
My initial read is a good ace.

Nit, if anyone is calling it is this fellow, I suspect if he had enough to call the original bet he has enough to call my bet. My initial read is pocket pair below KK if anyone was going to twist my arm.

A pot sized raise should suffice. $30-$32 would be good.

Raise to 25.

I like this better than 32. We take away implied odds for a set but we don't bet so much that we always chase away JJ, QQ or AK.

By the way AJ, I think you sat on my left for ~300 hands at Party on Friday night. Are you still refusing to fess up?
