Is Limping always wrong?

let me clear up my question. lets say you are in the CO or Button position, and you look down at a bad hand...like......7-3o or Q-7o or 2-4s...bad hands, but if u have a read on ur opponent or you know that you aren't going to be reraised(I mean to an extent because you can't always be right) is it an "acceptable' move to limp here and hope to hit? I'd like to hear ur opinion on this when u have an average stack compared to a large stack. thank you

You're asking if open limping, on the button, with trash, is wrong?

Yes, yes it is.

If you can do anything to show me that this move is anything but -EV, that would be cool.

Re: Is Limping always wrong?

a scenario I imagine in which this would be correct, is stacks of 100000BB, 9 players limping, no chance of a rr, and players will stack off routinely with top pair.

in that or a similar case, it is +EV to go for the 1:50 shot at flopping two pair or trips with trash.

otherwise, it is a sin against nature and you must fold

(in some live games which closely approximate the above, I think limping with trash can be +ev, but this is rare and really I think you should forget I said that)

I pretty much don't limp ever. Occasionally 22 UTG, but normally I raise that.
