ATo in early, LP table

No telling if there's a jack out there. Given that the lot of them will call with overcards, underpairs, or even back-door flushes, and they likely won't raise unless they have something like 2 pr or better, is this an okay value bet? Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB checks, Shalara bets, MP calls, CO calls, BB folds. (3 players 9.25 BB) River: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Shalara bets, MP raises, CO folds, Shalara calls. Don't want to fold with a pot that size. Not too happy about raising either, as he tends to be pretty passive, this raise is kind of surprising. Good? Bad? (2 players, 12.5 BB) (the missing .75 BB is rake) READS MP1. Calls anything. I mean *anything*. Don't think I've ever seen him fold pf. Sometimes folds post-flop, but not often. While he bet once on a flush draw, I don't recall him raising very often. He was mostly passive. CO. Calling station, though inclined to fold on river if he totally missed. BB. Seem to recall him as a bit loose and a bit passive. Table is kind of loose, got a few calling stations, very little aggression. Nice table. |
Re: ATo in early, LP table
On a table as you describe with this cast of characters, I am more likely to fold ATo up front, but I don't hate the raise. Postflop I play the same, even though he hit 2pr on the river.

Everythings good, however, I'm not paying off the river raise

*Grunch*
I'm not sure about raising ATo pre-flop in EP, even in an 8-handed situation. It's marginal, I think, but I might tend to fold here. I'm sure other board members can correct me on this if I'm wrong. Flop - fine Turn - fine River - Your read suggests that he is quite passive. This hand completes a straight-draw, and maybe he hit two-pair. Anyway, you don't even have top pair here. I say fold. I don't think you're going to see a hand you beat very often here. |
Re: ATo in early, LP table
Fold preflop.

Re: ATo in early, LP table
You might consider check calling the river with second pair and 2 passive callers. You might get a bet out of KQ, or a weaker T.
the rest of the hand I play the same. |
Re: ATo in early, LP table
If he's passive, you should be worried about the raise.

Re: ATo in early, LP table
with this read i'd call ATo in EP, i don't hate the raise, but you might not be getting and HU action...
i like the c-bet on flop, it's g00t but i'd check turn and try to see a cheaper show down to see what everyone else have i don't think 2nd pair in multiway is worth a value bet on turn |
Re: ATo in early, LP table
Preflop people are going to complain about the raise, or they're going to say it's raise or fold, but really all three options are fine, and I would actually call here since it's going to be multiway anyway and you have a small edge (if at all).
River I don't pay off with just second pair. Everything else is good. |
Re: ATo in early, LP table
Fold the river.
