Limit hold \'em with an ante

I live in Florida where $2 is the max bet allowed in a poker game. All the local casinos have $1/$2 limit and Straight $2 limit. It's hard to beat the rake at these limits. Somewhat recently they started offering an ante game. It has a $2 ante with a SB of $2 and a BB of $2. It seems like they found a way to get around the $2 max bet law. My question is: Is this game essentially the same as a $7/$15 limit game. My thinking is that each orbit you have to put in $22. Each orbit of a $7/$15 you would also have to put in $22. I've been thinking about playing this game because the pots are bigger and the rake doesn't make as big a hit. Anyone have any advice on how to play a game structured this way? Thanks.

this game is definitely not the same as playing a normal 7/15 game...

this structure requires very loose play...so at a 9 handed game before cards are dealt the pot is already 11 bets? ugh, you should be playing damn near every hand if you can limp...

don't bother with slowplaying or fancy protection plays since the betting limit doesnt double...you will also be getting odds for pretty much any kind of draw...

this is a crapshoot...play every hand and cross your fingers

Play bingo instead.

Or stay home and play on the internet.

what a strange game. sounds fun. i like a game where you get to play every hand till the river. the game is beatable its pretty hard to make a mistake as chasing down with just about everything is correct so its hard to outplay your opponents. however, i assume in a game such as this it will either be immensely passive without much raising or every street will be capped. if the game is passive then you will have an edge against players that dont protect their hand or raise for value. if the game is capped multiway every street then its easily beatable.

either way, the game will likely be very profitable in terms of BB/100, but your hourly rate should be very small in consideration to the $2 structure.

Good lord.

So the max bet is two dollars, the forced ante is two dollars, and there are two blinds and they are both two dollars?

What's max amount of bets per street? Four or five?

This is definitely not like an 8-16 game or anything, it's more like the ending of a tournament. It encourages gambooling and is going to inherently be a high variance game I believe.

If it was uncapped it'd be wicked good to play.
