The old minireraise: 225, get away from JJ?
I hate it when I am sitting with JJ or QQ and get miniraised by a seemingly solid player. What do you think, just keep calling?, push? fold?

Looks good. I don't know if I like the reraise preflop out of position. The pot will likely be 2 players anyway. The rest seems fine though.

WTF is up with his river check? Talk about a non-scary board. What a weirdo. If you're that afraid of sets it's gonna cost you a bundle.

Re: The old minireraise: 225, get away from JJ?
hmm, guess I should have edited the hand to make the villian more aggressive post flop. Anyone folding if he bets bigger on flop and turn and pushing on river?
Say he bets 200 on flop, 350 on turn |
Re: The old minireraise: 225, get away from JJ?
Ok, I changed my post, Im going down with this ship by the way. I would probably check, the turn then push his raise all in.

Re: The old minireraise: 225, get away from JJ?
Just read the results. This is precisely how BAD players play AA or air. Not really sure here if theres a better way to play with the villains raises and this board. Choosing to not raise PF would keep the pot/bets smaller and may allow you to fold on the river to a shove.

Re: The old minireraise: 225, get away from JJ?
I just call the original open. Once he reraises I am playing pretty much for set value. Unfortunately he makes weak enough flop and turn bets that you can call. If he bet 300+ on the flop I fold. If he bets 500+ on the turn I fold.

An overpair is good enough most of the time to never justify a fold....ever! |

If you fold every time you win nothing. |

If he bets 500+ on the turn I fold. [/ QUOTE ] The point of him making weak flop leads is to get money in the pot. The small amount on two streets right away should dictate value bet and the hero basically came right along with what the villan wanted. Hero should just call the open preflop and play poker. The problem with calling the small flop bet is what to do facing a "small" turn bet. At this point almost 50% of your stack is in on a very marginal hand where the river is not getting checked beind very often. Calling the flop isn't THAT bad but calling the turn and river is pretty terrible As the hand played out preflop lead flop, fold isn't bad IMO. |
