.5/1 prop bet

my friend says he can beat .5/1 full ring for 4.75bb/100 over his next 10k hands 4tabling

he has 160k hands at 4.57bb/100 and is likely better now. his pfr was 3 and af was 1 but his stats are closer to optimal now.

we are betting $100. who is gonna win?

I don't think it's certain that you will win, but I'm sure you have a ridiculous overlay here.

no. he has never played significant hands at higher stakes than .5/1.

I would be comfortable taking your side.

I have no idea how much a good player can beat those games for these days.

which site? it makes a big difference

paradise or party is much different than, say, absolute or prima

Re: .5/1 prop bet

Not that this is on topic, but why on earth would someone play 160k hands at .50/1, especially if they are crushing it that badly?

tehox 04-27-2006 02:23 PM

Re: .5/1 prop bet

I think this is only possbile with extremely rigorous game selection. I think it is not possible at your average or even above average .5/1 full ring table.

This poll is more like:
Who will win? SSplayer X, or the rake?

What's an overlay? It's impossible because of the rake.

Why is he still playing $.5/$1 after 160k hands and like $6k in winnings?

This seems like a good time to mention I played about 12k hands of 0.50/1 lifetime and beat it for ~9 bb/100.

Re: .5/1 prop bet

In January 2005, I taught some of my friends how to play poker(what a dumb idea that was) by letting them sweat me at $.50/$1.00. At the time I was a decent 5/10 6-max player.

I ran at >11 bb/100 over approx 10k hands, so I'm sure 4.75 is doable by a good player.

I'm going to say that he can't. Good player or not you still have to run well to get that kind of winrate. You should take this bet.

You'd have to run incredibly hot to pull that off, but I'm sure it's been done before.

1 minor downswing will screw him up.

From the thread it's obvious that for whatever reason he is not willing to use his own money to move up. So stake him, and then you get some profit.

I realize he has enough $ to move up. After you stake him, he'll realize what a fool he's been to not move up earlier. So you help him out and get some $.
