Re: 15BB challenge??

A. Buy-in to a table with 15 BB (e.g. .5/1 = $7.50). You can start at .02/.04 if you want. Whatever you are comfortable with.

B. Play til you bust out or increase your stack to 15BB of the next highest level (e.g. 1/2 - $15).

C. Repeat step B. Of course, you do not have to bust out. If you fall back to $7.50 you can cashout or keep going.

You may want to set a goal, e.g. I will cash out when I make enough for 5/10. If you make it, next time set your goal for 10/20 or whatever.

This is a good way to check out higher limits, boost your roll, and/or really focus on your play.

I just finished one myself...Started out hot and was a few bets away from 2/4, then had a bad run of cards...

12/21/2005

01:30pm-01:55pm .5/1(45 Hands; +18.95BB)= $33.95
02:00pm-03:30pm 1/2(148 Hands; -06.25BB)= $21.50

+$6.50 total

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try it after the first of the year when I have some time one weekend. I'm sure moving up in the levels will show some people (me included) that they have a lot of work to do on their games.

Right now, I'm reading and digesting all the info I can on six max and sticking my toe in that waters. I need to improve my short handed game.

Thanks again, for the info.

Loyal, you seem to be doing this with 15 small bets, not big ones. Start .5/1 with $15! Among other things, it's bad form to start at the table with fewer than 12BB!

Eeegah 12-21-2005 10:02 PM

Re: 15BB challenge??

Note that if you want to start small it's easier than it used to be--the .10/.20 limits at Stars plugged a big gap between .05/.10 and .25/50.

flop: (6.4SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img](6 players)
SB checks, BB bets, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls.
turn: (7.2BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
checks to Hero who bets, SB raises, BB ccalls, MP1 ccalls, Hero 3-bets, SB calls (all-in), BB calls, MP1 calls.

I'm on the challenge right now...
0.5/1 6-max with $15... got it up to $30
1/2 6-max with $30... got it up to $70
2/4 with $70... currently at $80... trying to get to $160

This is the first time I've tried 1/2 6-max and 2/4! Very exciting. I didn't know there wasn't a 6-max 2/4 level.

Holy crap, I kid you not I just started my own and was gonna start up another thread. WOW. What incredible timing.

Anyways, I started with 90 at 3/6 and am now up to 5/10. My goal this time around is to pwn 10/20. Last time I got shellacked by a two outer on the river.

If you guys think this [censored] is variance loosey-goosey, try it on 6 max the way I've been doing. Even nuttier! Playing full handed now as a break from the craziness...

Re: 15BB challenge??

I may give this another try tonight. Last time I started with $4.50 at .15/.3 and got through 3/6 with $162. I wussed out though and never attempted 5/10. I really am not that comfortable right now with that much money at risk and I am guessing I would be a huge underdog at 5/10.

Re: 15BB challenge??

For those that start at .02/.04 do you start with .60 and move up when you hit 1.50? Even with the weaker play it seems it would either take a lot longer or you would bust more trying to make that much.

Same applies to the jump from .1/.2 to .25/.5
