**American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Tonight's theme is classic love songs and the coach for our finalists is Andrea Bocelli. I look for another good week for everyone - with a knockout performance by Kat.
I think with past voting patterns starting to emerge that Elliot and Paris are the likely bottom two. What do you think? |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
This week is a deal breaker for Chris. If he can sing any of Bocelli's songs, I'd be surprised, and I will likely lose a lot of $.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
He doesn't have to sing Bocelli's songs, just a "Classic Love Song."

[/ QUOTE ] As I understand it, Bocelli is simply the coach - they don't actually have to sing Bocelli songs. They can select any classic love song. I think on that basis that Chris should have a good night. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
there are plenty of classic rock love songs for chris to choose from.

Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I agree that Elliot and Paris are the frontrunners to go home, and if there is a shocker, it will be Kat. Based on the odds, Elliot is a much better deal than Paris right now, so I have some Elliot and a tiny bit of Kat now, and will likely pick up some Paris after I see the performances and polling.
I expect Chris to surge this week, probably top 2 highest votes. A small chance of beating Taylor for the top spot this week, simply due to the rebound from the "shocking" bottom 3 appearance last time, similar to the rebound that Kat got the week after her "shocking" bottom 3 appearance. These are temporary moves, though, and others' fanbases would push them back above Chris if they were mobilized, and after the initial Chris B3 shock wears off. Taylor would retain the long-term voting lead, and Kellie would return to placing higher than Chris, probably as soon as next week imo. But this week, I expect Chris to surge up sharply in voting, and perhaps market value also, not quite sure about that. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I heard from somewhere (no link, so take this with a grain of salt) that Chris would be singing Chris Isaak's Wicked Game.

Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Kat is 15-1 to go home on WSEX. I can't believe that think that highly of her. They have Pickler at 4-1 to go home.

Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Hello all,
I got to go to the dress rehearsal today, and just got back. Here is the performance order, song selection, and my thoughts on each. *** Spoilers below *** 1) Kat: "I Have Nothing" - Whitney Houston Wore a beautiful yellow dress that shows lots of cleavage and leg. Sang fantastically, voice even more powerful live. Hit some big notes. Big audience reaction. Will get hurt from singing first, though, as almost everyone was good. 2) Elliot: "A Song for You" - Donny Hathaway Wore a black suit with shiny blue tie, looked sharp. Mixed package, a little tough on him at times. Very good, but not powerful, not as climatic a performance as Kat. Bad singing position, mediocre package, very strong but not inspiring performance, could he be the one to go? 3) Kellie: "Unchained Melody" - Righteous Brothers Wore an ivory tank top with gray pants, casual but nice look. Singing the Leann Rimes version, David Foster liked Kellie's version including a high falsetto at the end. Song was slow, a little boring at first, relatively safe and a nice song though. Good performance for Kellie. Live, she actually sounds pretty decent, with a clean and sweet voice. 4) Paris: "The Way We Were" - Barbara Streisand Wore a black jacket, white shirt, white pants, overall classy look. Foster loved her voice, almost perfect in practice, but start softer. Song started a little slow, then went to tons of powerful notes throughout the middle. Huge voice that is even more powerful live. Audience loved it, first standing O from Paula (only judge at rehearsal). 5) Taylor: "Just Once" Wore a black velvet suit...interesting. Foster thought he picked the perfect song and had the most charisma. A standard strong Taylor performance. A little like last week, kinda more mellow for him throughout, just singing the song, then picks it up at the end. Nice strong finish from him, although not quite as energetic as last week's finish. Not quite as much personality, a little nasally at times. 6) Chris: "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" - Bryan Adams Wore a long black suit coat with tiny pinstripes over a shirt and dark jeans. Producers pimping him up bigtime. Not only last, but only one with instrumentalists on stage. 2 live guitarists flanking him on either side. Very strong, perhaps his best performance yet, for a general audience, since it's not rock, but was sung very well and with power. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Conclusion: Elimination still up in the air, will have to watch polling. Looks like it will just be based on fanbases, as most contestants were pretty good. But you never know, sometimes they're good in rehearsal, and flub it live. Still looks like Elliot or Paris, leaning towards Elliot.
Frontrunner conclusion: As expected Chris got pimped huge and should rebound well. Perhaps a market surge, with slight Kat and Taylor downturns, but this is harder to call. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
THAT YELLOW DRESS IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
HOLY BAJESUS
those are 2 very good ways to get votes out of the #1 spot.. way to go Kat! haha |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
what a rack.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I mean it wasn't as good as Whitney Houston, but I thought it was great in the reference of this competition.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I'm not nearly as obsessed with Kat as many on here but OMFG she was really hot tonight.
That said she got absolutely murdered by the judges, and even Ryan! A quadrouple slam, her going would be fantastic as far as I'm concerned and that's the way to do it. FWIW I thought the Seacrest "without the volume" backhanded compliment was more insulting than anything the judges said. SEND HER HOME... |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I think Elliot is doing really well, ill wait to hear what the judgfes have to say
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Paula is pathetic. Get her crying butt off the stage.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
spot on
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Think Elliot saved himself from elimination this week?
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I thought she sang well, but what do I know.
[ QUOTE ] FWIW I thought the Seacrest "without the volume" backhanded compliment was more insulting than anything the judges said. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think he meant it as bad as it sounded. I think he meant that if they didn't hear the judges comments, but it came out really badly. |

Paula is pathetic. Get her crying butt off the stage. [/ QUOTE ] No kidding. What the heck is that all about. I thought Elliot was pretty good, but this performance shows why he can't win or maybe even make it past this week. He could have seriously knocked that one out of the park, but he didn't or can't. There was a couple spine tingly seconds in there but it wasn't there for the majority of the performance. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
For the life of me I'll never see what the judges see in Elliot. He's seems like such a doofus on stage. He should also learn how to tie a proper necktie knot.
Paula...? Was that just completely uncalled for or is it just me? What a wacky broad. |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Damn....Kellie looks ugly.

Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I sense problems for Pickler this week.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Good God, Pickler is stinking up the joint
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Man, if the South was gonna put someone through this far, why couldn't it have been Bucky? This Kellie stuff is tired.

Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Wow, Kellie dropped 5 points since the last time I checked. That sucks for me.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Just keep repeating "fanbase". I'm not selling yet.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
how does pickler have better odds than paris, shes 10 times worse.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
Wow. I was feeling great about my Kellie shares heading into this week but now I'm feeling very, very nervous. That was God-awful and America will notice.
Granny, you out there? Can you quell my Kellie concerns at all? |
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
kelly might very well go home this week. her stupid blonde act is becoming very grating.
|
Re: **American Idol Finals: Classic Love Songs
I see the WSEX market is finally getting a clue on Elliott.
