Reads and Tells.... the shake..
okay so weve all seen it. The person at the table whose psyched to be putting money into the pot and as he lays out his chip, they tumble over and his hand is quivering. They are completely focused on getting their chips into the pot but not deliberate either and they often have just a little bit of a grin.
So what does it mean? Ive seen them loose here and seen them win, Ive seen them turn up K8o when they flopped trips or pocket Aces when they were obviously beat. All i can think of is that it means they think they are hot [censored]. I dont mean they are egotistical but for that hand they think they are unbeatable. Im just trying to make use out of this information. can i? |

usually a strong hand. Not always but usually... right out of caro's book and it's really common for newer players.

that blasted book of tells... i always forget that i have it.

Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
It's almost always a strong hand. The only problem is figuring out what the player thinks a strong hand is. AA in the hole is considered a monster regardless of the board by some, others need quads or better to get excited.
Some people just shake all the time. |
Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
yeah i knew it was a strong hand tell i just need to figure out how to compare there strong to mine.

Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
hand at foxwoods last week...guy is shaking like a leaf when he pushes all in, then confidently sits back in his chair...i thought he had the nuts and felt bad when a nice kid sitting next to me called him...turned out the guy was bluffing.
i don't think he was sending false tells either...he didnt seem that smart...i think that was his natural reaction. |
Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
thats another.... shaking could be scared... i would venture to say that maybe they are scared that there monster is beat but that would involve them taking it to the 2nd level which i dont think is likely.

[/ QUOTE ] Rarely. Shaking is usually what people do after a card that comes on the flop/turn/river helps them. They're so tense about having to hit a draw, that when it comes, all the tension is suddenly released. Since he can't jump up and down, it manifests itself as shaking. That said, yes, sometimes it can be scared, but I always use the default; shaking = monster or at least until I see different. |

Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
ok, I was watching the WSOP and Ivey was in a hand with an unknown. They show the river, and the unknown is shaking ridiculously. Ivey says, "are you doing that on purpose?" and the guy replies "What?"...ivey asks about the shaking, and I think he says no. Anyhow, I got to thinking about why ivey talked to him.
Alright, first off, these guys are shaking, and they probably want to justify it, or maybe explain it. If they do, they definitely have you beat. Here's another thing that you can do, say you suspect a very good player of shaking. Ask them if their shaking on purpose, then look at their hands, if their hands stop shaking while their talking, it may be on purpose. I'm not sure how reliable this is, I haven't played with a player thats so bad he shakes with excitement at a good hand. But I definitely would like to test it out. |
Re: Reads and Tells.... the shake..
This one I found useful in live games. The board brings three the same suite and villian never once attempted to look at hole cards. If he starts betting (especially min bet), hes got the nuts or close to it.
