Cubs trade Patterson

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
Hallelujah. I can't believe they didn't have to pay some team to take him off of their hands.

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
Alright, I don't get it? I thought Patterson would be back this year. I guess you can't have a bad year anymore. Sure he strikes out too much, but he's 26 talented and just coming into his prime. Why do you trade him for a song?

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
Corey Patterson is talented?
Bwahahaha |
Re: Cubs trade Patterson
He play excellent defense at one of the most important positions.

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
last year his defense sucked too. He play CF well in the previous years though, but he also hit better in previous years. last year he pretty much sucked in every aspect of the game.
Personally I think he might be ok in bmore, but he was never going to make it as a cub. too much pressure to be the star of the team. would have been nice if they got something for him, since neither of those prospects look all that great. |
Re: Cubs trade Patterson
WTF is wrong with Baltimore? Did they not learn their lesson from the Sosa debacle?
They seem to be our new Pirates. |

He play excellent defense at one of the most important positions. [/ QUOTE ] If by dropping every ball within 2 feet of the ivy, then yeah, I guess he did play "good defense". He's sort of a spazz out there, he doesn't look comfortable at all. Not in CF. And definitely not at home plate. He's "a leadoff hitter who can go yard!" Yay. Too bad nobody needs/wants a leadoff hitter who can go yard, and strike out 180 times a year. He's like Rickey Henderson, minus the speed, defense, power, average, and attitude, but with more strikeouts. |

I'm sure you still think Sammy should be on the team. |

[/ QUOTE ] He was having a solid year before he tore his knee. He's only 26 and still has physical tools to be a productive MLB player. Not a star. But he was done in Chicago. |

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
The problem isn't Patterson's strikeouts, it's his lack of plate discipline which is of corused tied to it. He has all the power imaginable but you can't hit a slider out of the park if you can't reach it. He needs to pull a Sammy Sosa and learn to lay off bad pitches. The problem is that you normally can't do that.
The frustrating thing is that he shows signs of discpline at times. When he does that he looks great. The next plate-appearance he goes up hacking at pitches in the dirt. |
Re: Cubs trade Patterson
You are right I agree with that. I was thinking more along the lines of Bellhorn. He struck out a lot, but was on base a lot. I didn't look at Patterson's numbers for this.

Re: Cubs trade Patterson
Take a look at Patterson with a guy on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Never seen a guy strike out or pop up to the catcher more than CPat in this situation.
