Bay Area players Unite!
If you reside anywhere in the bay area, meaning you play at the Oaks in Emeryville, Lucky Chances In SF, Cal Grand in Concord, Casino San Pablo in El Cerrito, Bay 101 in San Jose, Garden City, Cache Creek or anywehre else I missed please post here. I'm trying to start a coalition here. Post your thoughts, experiences, juciest games, stories, we want it all here. It would be great if we could keep something like this up so we could possibly do home games or carpools to tourneys and such. I know theres a lot of poker players in the bay area but how many are 2+2ers?

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
i play at bay 101, lucky chances and oaks. i dont know if i need to be in a coalition, but if you could get them to lower the rake a little bit ill be in any coalition you want.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I'm currently in LA but I'll be coming up north to go to school in Davis in Sep, which means no more Commerce Where's the best place up there to play 40/80 - 100/200?
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
There is definitely no action above 30/60..most of the casinos here are low limit and some have a couple mid limit games. I know that there is a 12/24 at california grand, theres a 15/30 at oaks and on fridays they have 30/60. Hope this helps.
just wondering...You're going to UC davis undergrad or for grad school? |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Tell me about it...what limits do you play? $4 rake at 15/30 seems standard but raking the same amount at 1/2 is absurd (oaks).

[/ QUOTE ] bay101 nearly always has a 40-80 game going and at night usually an 80-160, too. LC's has tried getting a 40 game going on Tuedays for a while, not sure if it's going or not still. |

Limelight and Capital Club are the two that I know of. IIRC, I think that 15-30 is the biggest game they spread in Sac...i could be wrong though. |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
they had a 40/80 game at LC this tuesday, it went until around 3/4 am, i didn't really watch but it had a couple floormen in the game...

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Yall know about the Palace Club in Hayward? They offer really low limits (3/6, 6/12) and have $60 freezeout Saturdays and Sundays
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I used to play at LC's but have been going to Artichoke Joe's more recently. I play 3-6 and 6-12. Plan on heading to Bay 101 to play at some point in the near future.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Play the 20, occasionally the 40 at Bay 101. Hit the Garden City 20 once in a blue moon. Not playing much live for serious money for a while though. Got some other stuff that's more important at the moment.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Hey guys-
I play at the Oaks quite a bit and love the action there. I have played everything up to 6/12 and done quite well. Does anyone play the 15/30 game there much? I have watched the action a bit and it seems very profitable. Can anyone give me their impressions of the game? Thanks |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Cache Creek is about 30 minutes away from UCD...It has 3/6, 4/8 kill, and 6/12
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
oh oh fair enough, ive never been to bay 101.
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I play Cache Creek on weekends and most of the players are terrible. They spread 3/6, 4/8 kill and NL $100, $200 and $200-500 buyin. I have been playing 3/6 there for 3 months crushing games pretty much with an average win rate of $25/hr. I have not played anywhere else yet.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
The creek is awesome, I'm thinking about going sometime tomorrow
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Me too - I live about 30 minutes away. Maybe meet for a beer?
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I've been going to Lucky Chances recently, usually on wed and fri. I will be there today to play their 10/10/20 nl game.
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
whats the structure of their 100 and 200 nl games? thx, maybe ill make the trip up there soon.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I've played all the Bay Area clubs. I live in Sacramento now and go down to the Grand or San Pablo once in a while. The Cal Grand games are definitely the juiciest, especially the 6-12. We also have the Lucky Derby in Citrus Heights. They have 8-16 and 15-30 on weekends, plus no limit.
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I have never played NL there so am not sure, but I think the $100 is: The BB was $2, the SB $1, and the button another $1. And they probably rake $3 and take $1 for jackpot.

If anybody here is on Myspace.com then you can join my group on Bay Area Poker.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Capitol Casino in Sac is a nice, clean joint, with a bunch of soft kill games up to 9-18 IIRC. Cache Creek is also close but the casino allows smoking, so smoke drifts into the poker room. Casino San Pablo has the same smoke problem unless that has changed in the last year.

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Any interesting trip reports from over the weekend?
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Bay 101 is the only cardroom spreading large limit holdem.
Last time I was there they had 40/80, and 80/160 going. |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Anybody been to artichoke Joes or grand palace? How are the games, tourneys , food etc.?

Anybody been to artichoke Joes or grand palace? How are the games, tourneys , food etc.? [/ QUOTE ] I hit AJ's infrequently in late afternoons and early evenings (taking the Caltrain home daily does have its advantages from time to time). The wait's been pretty long (half-hour-ish plus) unless I show up right around 4pm most days (shift change -- they typically add a table or two as soon as the dealers clock in); I'm a low-limit guy, but I play $6/$12 there because the skill level seems to be approximately the same as the $0.50/$1 Party games. I can't speak to the food (smells good, that's all I've got) or the tournaments. |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I live exactly 3 freeway exits away from Casino San Pablo. I was a 3-6/4-8 stud player there for the first couple of years until the games dried up and made a pretty good second income from it. Besides sticking my head in a Reno game occasionally, I haven't been a regular to any B&M for years.
After about a 2 year hiatus from poker all-together, I'm slowly making the transition to Hold'em, mostly tournament, as I seem to be having a tougher transition to the Hold'em ring games from stud than to tournament HE which I always did ok in. Does anyone know if Casino SP still holding the $20 buy-in+rebuy NL tourneys on Sat? |
L to the C
I'm gonna be at lucky chances tomorow evening, anyone else interested?
|
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
Yes they have it on saturday and sunday at 10:15 AM...You really have toget there at about 8 though because live players get seating first...and they always fill it up..
|
Re: L to the C
Yes yes I will be there for sure..my buddy and I already planned it...What do you play there? I've only been there once and played the $100 NL game

Re: Bay Area players Unite!
I live in San Jose, and play late night at Bay 101 from time to time. I was going once or twice a week for a while, but had a bad night and lost most of my (severely undersized) bankroll.
I only play the 2/4 tables for now. I'm hoping to slowly build my bankroll so that I can afford the larger limits. The 2/4 tables are often easy. Half of the players have no concept of how to play. The key is to choose your hands carefully, bluff seldom, and bet for value when you've got it. I think we should find a way to identify ourselves to each other. Any ideas? |
Re: Bay Area players Unite!
dont flame me if these sound lame but we could wear a certain color shirt or have a saying...I assume you mean something like the "sup bro"

I'll have the Party Poker suede jacket on (hey, wouldn't want to miss out on the lame-ness), and probably be playing somewhere around 3/6 or 6/12 depending on which seat is available first. I'll keep an ear out for "sup bro". |
