Mike was also on the front page of today's Pioneer Press . The thing I found most impressive was that he will apparently finish his degree at the University of Minnesota in four years. I mean, lots of people have won a million dollars before.

Reading about you guys' exploits reminded me of the home game at Bob T.'s a couple of years ago. The lineup was Schneids, bicyclekick, Gonores, Vehn, Mark H, pudley4, Whiskeytown, Bob T. and myself. One of the tougher $3/6 games I've sat in.

Never occurred to me that you had a last name, Brian. Almost the same name as Dynasty. And there's another poker-playing Mike Carlson in Minnesota. What are the odds?

It's funny how TV(and other media for that matter) act like it's kind of out of the blue that some college kid wins when they're actually in a room talking to a couple great players that are seemingly flying under the radar.

interesting. what would be the incentive to appear on the news though? i mean they dont pay you to appear.. the only reason i would think would be to try and get into that eschelon (sp?) of players who are sponsored by a site or something... but can local news really help with that?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. The interview was fine, a little corny, but I dunno, why do it I guess? I've never really wanted to be a celebrity and would rather be forgotten though. I doubt this is why Schneids gave the interview so I guess it just comes with the territory?

regardless of the whole 'journalism major' thing...lots of people give interviews for lots of things just because they were asked.

It might not even have much to do with wanting to be famous or anything like that.
Someone asks you nicely if they can have a few minutes of your time and you say, 'okay'.
