** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

A little over three hours until it starts. This is gonna be awesome.

Michael Chiklis is guest starring on the 6:30EST TBS Seinfeld episode right now, btw.

It's [censored] weird seeing that Seinfeld episode. Two completely different people.

And since I'm on the west coast, I've got 6 hours to go. [censored]

I bailed on a group b-day dinner with a good single girl to guy ratio (said I would be flying out of town) just so I could be home to watch this... 5 hours and counting

Hour fifteen minutes to go.

Was anyone else disappointed that Wyms didn't die when, a couple of weeks ago, she fell and for a moment appeared to have broken her neck? I don't hate her character or anything, but I felt like I was robbed of a "holy crap" type moment. Also, when the serial killer looked at her and said, "who's going to hell now, bitch?" it was pretty amusing.

The shield just caught up with 24 in my opinion.. Best episode ever! My dog and I both sat there in stunned silence 5 minutes after it ended... Shane, you suck..

Do you guys think that vic new about it? I think he did and they talked about it when they were out in the basketball court talking about Terry C. My buddy that I watched it with didnt think vic knew anything about it.

It's going to make the team alot less likable now that they killed one of their own boys.

I knew that when he went to get him a sandwich that he was gonna kill him. But I figured he would shoot him in the head, not drop a grenade in his lap. Fuc*ing hardcore, then apologizing and really meaning it is the most fu*cked up thing ever. And that scene where the pimp explains how he turns rich chicks with masters degrees into common street hoes was one of the greatest TV drama speeches of all time.

HEK 03-22-2006 01:31 AM

Re: ** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

I think vic knew about it. There was something about the look that Vic gave Shane when the 3 of them were waiting for Lem to show up.

I can't believe Shane killed Lem. That god damn prick for killing Lem after everything Lem did to protect the team.

Any thoughts on what goes down next Season? I can't imagine that the main plot line will be the same story with IAD up there ass and everything. There's gotta be something more.

Oh btw, was it me or didn't it seem like Lem was still alive when Shane started walking over to the car after the grenade went off? It looked like his eyes were open.

EMc 03-22-2006 01:35 AM

Re: ** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

I saw him killing him about 10 minutes before hand. Predictable as soon as he didn't get tailed. I didn't think grenade until about a minute or so, when he was getting the sandwich.

Lem was still alive. That part almost made me sick. I think I heard him wisper Shane's name somewhere during his rant.

Re: ** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

They set that scene up well, it was clear what had to be done when lem was unwilling to go south. After the prior conversation with vic, the audience was primed for it. Very nicely done/

Hopefully we will have some quality vic shane drama next season.

Yea that's true. I thought vic knew about it by the way they were still waiting on lem for along time. But it does set up alot of drama between them next season.

That was the worst part of it. It would've been better if Lem could've died not knowing his friend betrayed him. In Heaven he'd go up to God asking "Wait how did I die... I was eating a sandwich my friend Shane got for me and then I blew up..." "Uh.. well, you see.. your car, just, blew up for no reason.."

Re: ** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

A+ to Walt Goggins' performance tonight. All the things he was going through in that warehouse scene with Lem... talking about Mara being pregnant, absolutely torn and conflicted about what he was going to do. All the things he did when he was on his own in Vice, messing with Antoine... Shane Vendrell is such a tortured character -- well done Goggins.

Yeah I agree that it was great to see Dutch learn about mastering women from the pimp and then using it on Tina. I dunno about Claudette denying Dutch's transfer because of the Lem murder; it just seems like an easy way to drop that subplot.

I really disagree that Vic knew what Shane was up to. No way -- this was Shane's call. Vic's reaction upon seeing Lem's body was sincere shock. In fact, I thought he was going to turn on Kavanaugh and blame him -- give him the "are you happy" speech that Kavanaugh turned on Vic.

It seems that with Lem dead, the case against Vic, Ronnie, and Shane will be empty, and the chief won't go to war looking into the money train stuff. But they will investigate the Lem murder -- I just suspect Shane and Vic will pin it on the Salvadorian (with Emolia's help [sp? the CI]), but then when Vic finds out Shane did it (maybe Mara will squeal?) he will turn on him and we'll get a big-time brawl.

SoftcoreRevolt 03-22-2006 02:36 AM

Re: ** Official The Shield Season Finale Thread **

There is no way Vic has any idea at this point that Shane had anything to do with this. He may start to piece things together if he realizes that Kavanaugh only had one flunkie with him at the murder scene to tail them with.

With how suspicious Ronnie was of Lem for the second half of the season, I wonder if Vic might turn to him first as a suspect if it looks like it wasn't retaliation for the grenade busts.

WOW, great great finale. There has been specualtion that this would end up being the last season but I guess that can be put to rest. Vic has no clue, Shane didn't even know what he was going to do until he realized he wasn't being tailed. While there is a lot of discussion on whether Vic is a good guy or not, I think there is zero doubt that Shane has zero redeming qualities.

Getting police ride with drugs stolen- [censored] up
Tavone- [censored] up
Getting into bed with Antwone- [censored] up
Killing Lem- [censored] up

I guess Vic is the father.

The actress who plays Emilia(sp?) is very good. She oozes fear the entire time shes onscreen.

FYP

...and I don't even think that makes him a lot less likable. He was so torn up about it, and is going to spend every day for the rest of his life knowing what he did and hating himself for it. And he knew it was gonna be like that before he did it. No, that doesn't make it right, but a lot of the [censored] that every character on the show does isn't right.

There's no way that Vic knew.

What did Dutch say to Tina at the end? I didn't even make the connection between pimp guy and what he said at the time so I don't remember.

Best show on TV...Goggin's performance was amazing...hell, so was everyone else's.

It's a very complex show about the characterization of supossedly "evil" people. There's just no such thing as black and white. We all have our reasons for doing even the most heinous of deeds. When talking about this kind of theme, for me, The Shield is an artistic achievement right up there with The Godfather films

I'll miss the character of Lem, though...Kenneth Johnson was really great.

I thought that's what was going to happen when they met and it was just the two of them. And when Shane mentioned his wife being pregnant again, I knew it was coming. A beautifully acted scene, very dramatic. Shane was always the most cold-hearted one on the Strike Team, even more so than Vic, IMO. And yes, Lem did not die immediately. And yes, next season Vic will find out the truth, if he doesn't know it already.

What next season holds? Somehow working up the tension b/w the Claudette/Dutch camp and the remainder of the S/T. Who knows. I know I will watch.

Yeah I dunno if there should be any ambivalence about Shane though. Once you frag a friend of yours, I think you've removed all doubt what kind of [censored] you are. I know Shane's a tortured human being blah blah but I hope he gets seriously [censored] up next season.

I can already see the scene in my head between Vic and Shane once Vic finds out. I can see Shane's whiny red face pleading, "I had to!" I can see Vic struggling for a second. But I think this one will put Vic over the top.

That's what I always loved about this show. The flawed hero thing. It's not Sipowicz talking rough to a suspect when you know he's a good guy. Oooh, he's bending the rules a little! He's so bad!
This show gets it right. They do great things and horrible things and are really conflicted about it.

His character had nowhere to go in the show. I saw it coming and still thought it was a great twist, though they dragged it out a little afterwards. Any chance Shane eats his gun sometime next year? Maybe not, with the kids... that may be what saves his life with Vic, as well.

It's not as if Vic can argue about killing another cop to protect the team.

Baby pool- who was the father?

Please, can someone verify whether it was revealed that Vic is the father of the baby?

Also, quite an ending, though I saw it coming when they first met. Why didn't he burn the car, however?

Thanks

I think Shane eating his gun would be a great way for him to go out - new baby and all. That would make it even more gut-wrenching. Vic killing him seems too obvious.

They insinuated it. They did not flat out say it, unless I missed it..

This is the best show on TV. In fact I would say this is one of the only shows I have ever watched that left me with a knot in my stomach. I knew it was coming (you had to be blind not to see it), yet when it did, my first reaction was I am done with this series. Like it happened to someone I know................... weird. But the show, to a regular, is that powerful.

Some thoughts:

No way in hell Vic knew, afterall he told the lawyer that if need be to keep the team out of trouble he would take the hit.

Next season this will bring the Shan/Vic angle that developed with Antwan last season to a head. 1-2 things will happen. Shane dies with Vic somehow unscathed or Shane dies and Mara brings Vic down (money train). Vic will find out how Lem died and that will be a Nuclear explosion. I can not wait to see the fallout of that.

The Lawyer (forget her name) is going to play a roll in bringing heat on Vic for Lem's death. Just my opinion.

I think the main Kavanaugh/Vic angle is done. I think Acevedo is going to play a bigger roll in the whole investigation that will ensue.
