You fold this?

Only played 3 hands against villain. Should I have folded this somewhere?

Re: You fold this?

What are you thinking he has on the flop? What are you thinking he has on the turn? What happened on the river to make you think he had AA beat? I think you can raise the river here as well. You are more likely to see AJ - KK here than two pair or a set.

Er.... Can't fold now.

I also think you are better calling down after Villain 3 bets the flop. I can maybe make an arguement that raising the turn might get you a cheap showdown but with his aggression into you, I don't think you'd get it. So call the Turn.

Call the River because it is one bet to you and 13.5 in the pot.

Do you know the problem with an overpair? It only beats another pair or a "high card hand"

Yeah he obv has a set. I'd fold to the turn 3bet.

Re: You fold this?

I would cap the flop and call down if he bets out the turn.

Re: You fold this?

*grunch*

1. I cap the flop, why just call the 3-bet to raise again on the turn?

2. Once I cap the flop and villian leads out the turn, I check call down. He can easily have AJ, KK, QQ and be putting you on UI overs, don't be too shocked if you lose to a set though.

Re: You fold this?

This was kind of a bluff post to my friends the folders. Perhaps I should have chosen a trickier hand...

Results below:
SB has Jd 5d (one pair, jacks).
Hero has Ac Ad (one pair, aces).
Outcome: Hero wins 14.50 BB.

hmm, don't fold over pairs against unknowns at .5/1? So crazy it just might work.

Re: You fold this?

AA UTG only gets you blinds or sucked out when you raise it. Since getting sucked out sucks, just give it up preflop.

I'm not saying it's a good arguement

Re: You fold this?

the argument would go something like this:

raising costs 2 BB or more to sd. call the # of bets here x.

calling down costs 2 BB or less to sd. call the # of bets here y.

x >= 2
y <= 2
so y <= 2 <= x

but x < y because poker math is governed by 4 a dimensional coordinate system

Re: You fold this?

I call down after villain caps the flop. It seems like 2 pair or a set to me.

Re: You fold this?

1. wtf
2. I think Miles' sigh means don't put "Find a fold?" "Should I have folded somewhere" or "when do you think I was beat" in the subject line i.e. you are giving us the results, which per usual sucks.
3. I probably call-down from the turn, because when we get 3-bet, it's a sure sign we are behind, drawing to 2 outs, have are putting a lot of money in as such. Against an unknown, I want a showdown. I still wonder how this jives with the FTOP*.
4. you either have a new buddy or got pzwned
5. i think I suck at poker.
6. I just looked at the results. YOU THINK YOU ARE FUNHNY?? HU YOU AND ME $100/$200 FREEZEOUT LETSS GOO

* if he is on a flush draw our correct play is to cap this flop, but if we are behind, the correct move is to call the 3-bet and fold the turn. However, calldown = the superposition of raising when we are ahead, and folding when we are behind and not getting outs to draw at our hand. I call this the Fundamental Theorem of Quantum Poker. Anyhow, I guess it has to do with the possibility that villain plays a flush draw this way.

Looks fine to me. I would have played it the exact same way.

I probably would have thrown a cap on that flop, but everything else the same.

Re: You fold this?

: toxic grunch :

I play it the same way (which isn't necessarily good news for you ).

It's easy for someone with top pair (in this case, say he has the J) to disregard the possibility you have an overpair.

He could have flopped 2 pair or better, of course, but I'm happy with your raises on flop and turn and then putting the brakes on on the river.

Where are these folders?

Most of the hands I see here, the pots have been too large to fold even if you look down and find you've somehow ended up with a beer mat and a flyer to a strip club in your hand.

I'm almost certainly a folder, but you didn't catch me.

You ought to have given me a very solid hand and left me facing a bet on the turn with somebody aggressive yet to act behind me.

That would make me curl up into the foetal position and cry like a baby. However, I have no webcam above my monitor I'm afraid.

Because sometimes this tricks people into thinking you raised the flop with overcards or something and are now calling down. Then they bet the turn instead of check-calling, so you get an extra .5BB
