Lost all money at party blackjack

So I lost all my money in about an hour playing party blackjack. I have enough left to pay my bills for the month and some gas money.

Do you think I should kill myself?

Re: Lost all money at party blackjack

It's only money, so I'd say no. But do learn from it and do what you can to not play again. I have played and lost money at it (as well as table games in casinos) that I shouldn't. Take measures to prevent it from happening again (willpower, deleting the image files, whatever it takes). It's a stupid waste of money - I have basically barred myself from table games of any kind except for a couple hundred here and there if my friends really want to or whatever. Don't play these games with serious money.

Re: Lost all money at party blackjack

The amount of money doesn't matter. It's an arbitrary amount to the rest of us, but really hurts the person who lost it. I would recommend staying away from online blackjack as there does not really appear to be any system that could allow you to beat the game consistently. Perhaps Mason Malmuth would like to chime in here with his thought on online blackjack.

Carl

I'm confused how you could lose "all" your money in an hour, yet still have enough to pay the bills..

Re: Lost all money at party blackjack

No, but electroshock therapy might be in order. Come on man, party blackjack? First of all, uninstall the frickin casino. Secondly, mod your client so you can't see the Party BJ. I don't even know if the above is correct, but that's what I've done and I can't see Party BJ.

Next time, go for sidebets instead.

Do you have a job?

Obviously you shouldn't kill yourself. Everyone who voted yes is just joking.

If you actually ARE going to kill yourself, keep in mind that you don't have to deal with the consequences of anything you do, so definitely do something fun first, as long as you're not morally opposed to it. And don't forget to make amends with god.

Maybe most of his money was online and he kept a months worth of bills in his checking account.

Re: Lost all money at party blackjack

To put this in perspective, how much money did you lose? If we're talking $1000, no bigee. If you lost like 20k or more, I could see why you sound so desperate. Needless to say , you certainly shouldn't kill yourself( don't know if you were actually serious about that, or just expressing your despair)....when your born you're broke, and when you die you're broke....everything in between is just fluctuations. You can make the money back working and/or playing solid 2+2 poker(I recommend a job). Learn the lesson on why smart gamblers don't play -EV games. If it took this to happen for you to realize this, then you can get something positive out of the situation. I wish I could see the allure of Blackjack (actually, I'm glad I don't).....It's such a boring game and is like 1/100th as entertaining and challenging as poker. Best of luck to you (and I don't mean at the BJ table) REDDRED

I really don't know if you're serious (this was originally in Psychology and was imo incorrectly moved) or not. But if it is, get help - I'm sure you feel desperate now, but you'll look back on this as a bump in the road. Seriously, get help if you need it.

Good Luck.

You should definitly not kill yourself over this. However, consider hiring a teacher (me) to teach you to beat this easy game

Re: Lost all money at party blackjack

well the good news is you (hopefully) will never have the desire to even think about blackjack again. further, you still have enough to pay bills, so you aren't in debt. so it could be a lot worse.

just make it your mission to build back up. it's only money. it's not threatening your livelihood. so you'll have to do some grinding, but that's your punishment for doing this. my girlfriend's dad has lost his 2 best friends, his wife, and his mother in the last 18 months. you lost some money playing blackjack. it could be a whole hell of a lot worse so quit complaining to a bunch of people who will only laugh at your misfortune, and fix it

Wow, I pushed the poll over to 94-93 that he should kill himself. Imagine if the OP actually killed himself because he took this poll very seriously. I would probably feel pretty bad.

Edit: Phew, it's tied again 95-95. Now I'm not as nervous that he'll kill himself and I won't have to feel bad.

2nd edit: It's still tied up at 98-98. This is gonna come down to the wire.
