Greatest Show That Lasted Less Than One Season

This entry is inspired by the "Worst Long Running TV Show" thread.

There was a Mel Brooks show in the mid-70's called "When Things Were Rotten". At the time I thought this show was very funny but I have to admit that I am partial to the work of Mr. Brooks.

I don't even think this show made it to Christmas.

Less than one season seems pretty limiting. Less than two seasons might have some more answers.

Hot L Baltimore, 1975.

I was just a kid, but it sure seemed funny at the time.

not sure if Action was on for 1 or 2 seasons but that was a damn funny show.

I loved Hot L Baltimore as well. The funny thing is that the Baltimore ABC affiliate refused to air the show because at the time it was deemed to racy. I used to have to watch it on the Washington ABC affiliate.

Hi Roy:

The Prisoner. It ran its complete course but was only designed as a summer fill in.

best wishes,
Mason

They did 6 episodes in 1975 and 6 in 1979.

If this criteria is acceptable, then Tru Calling is my nomination.

Easily one of the funniest shows ever, if not the funniest, so this has gotta be it. I have the whole series and it fits on 3 DVD's.

I'm also partial to Get a Life, but lots of people hated it. Screw them though, I loved it.

Boomtown lasted for one year for all practical purposes. Whatever that was that came back in the second year was just miserable and I was glad to see it cancelled. The first year was great television.

On a related note Donnie Wahlberg is a terrific actor and deserves wider exposure. He was outstanding in Diamond Men, Boomtown and Band of Brothers.

Boomtown was a great one. I agree with the notion that only the first season counts. Excellent show.

Unfair comparison. The Prisoner is the greatest show ever on television.

This thread should be, "Other than Firefly, what is the Greatest Show That Lasted Less Than One Season?"

As for that question, I'd have to say Police Squad! is a great call.

From the Law`and Order installments-there was Trial by Jury that made it one season.
