* OFFICIAL * Sopranos thread

So the new season kicks off in about 10 minutes. Who's watching, who has predictions for the rest of the season, and who's gonna get killed?

I'm psyched!

My predictions. Paulie tries to switch sides and gets whacked in the process. Tony and Johnny Sac have a feud over this, leading to bloodshed on both sides.

Question: Why did Johnny Sack want to kill Christopher?

IIRC, Sack said that if he couldn't have Tony B's head, he'd take Christopher's or something like that.

It's been so long that I have only a hazy memory of a lot of the storylines. I guess I'll get back up to speed but no predictions. I will go along with Paulie getting whacked, seems overdue even.

Re: * OFFICIAL * Sopranos thread

He didn't. Phil Leotardo wanted to kill Tony B. for killing his brother, but suggested that if Tony wouldn't reveal Tony B.'s location another close relative of Tony's would suffice. Christopher was only in danger peripherally, but it was worth it for him to disappear for a few days anyway at the end of season 5.

OK, I couldn't remember who had been killed.

Tony B killed one of Sack's men. Tony S. wouldn't give up where Tony B. was. So sack threatened to kill Christopher instead.

Christopher was the closest resemblance to Phil's son (brother?)... a younger beloved family member.

Great opening, the William S. Burroughs thing was out of left field. The ending lived up to the open as well.

What were those "spirits" they were describing at the beginning - the 7 entities of life/death?

Anyone know why they didn't show scenes from next weeks episode?

Re: * OFFICIAL * Sopranos thread

The beginning and ending song is something I worked on in the 80's. The band is called Material, but its really Bill Laswell's vanity project. The band features Bill on bass, Sly & Robbie of reggae fame, and the immortal William S Burroughs voice.
Get the album if you liked it, it was one of the best records I ever worked on - Amazon link

PS: One of the top 5 all time best Sopranos episodes IMHO, I was floored!

They like to torture people.

Most likely to keep the suspense going and not give away too much.

Becuase then you'd know for sure that Tony is alive.

Would they reall kill off Tony in an episode that isn't the last of the series? Would be crazy if they did.

No. I thought this episode sucked until the last 5 minutes. I thought they promised something amazing in the beginning of the show?

I wasn't impressed. It felt rushed, way too all over the place and just weirdly edited.

I disagree. This show was right on key. Its is just like the start of previous seasons. They are setting up multiple plot lines with different characters. Of course the first episode starts slow. I thought the whole episode was great. Only makes me more eager for next week.

I liked it, last 5 min awesome. I agree it was a little hard to follow/weirdly edited. The great thing about this show, is any preconceived ideas that arise rarely pan out. IE., the bloddy fingerprint on the map, after Gino gilled that guy, i asssumed that was going to come back and haunt the family..now..hes dead.

Yeah, I thought the same thing (which I'm sure was intentional). I think it was just imagery -- he can't leave the "life" because he has blood on his hands.
