Vegas Virgin

Okay, not a total virgin, I've been there. I only got to 2nd base though. I wasn't a poker player and I was chaperoning ten 16-year olds.

Anyway, my wife's folks knew I wanted to go, so they booked their timeshare and invited us to bring the kiddos so they could watch them, my wife could shop, and I could gamboooool!!!!

We're staying here: www.hgvclub.com

It's at the north end of the strip according to my brochure. I'd really love some advice on where to play poker.

1) No car
2) Limit player (5/10 6M online). Not opposed to playing some donkeys at 8/16, 10/20. Nothing higher than that and really don't want to play lower than 5/10.
3) I don't care about buck toothed waitresses, [censored] bathrooms, or worn felt. I want $$$$. Sure, it'd be great to play somewhere nice, and I'd like to a little bit, but it's NOT REQUIRED.
4) I'd also like to play in an MTT or two, just for the experience. What's good in the $50-$100 range?

Any help would be much appreciated. Oh yeah, I'll be there March 22-26.

1) that link doesn't work

2) if you're on the N end, then the Wynn mid limits will be fine

3)Good $50-$100 tourney, Sahara's nightly tourney or Caesar's nooner on Sat

Bellagio 8-16 at night is sweet. Beautiful place too.

You said nothing higher but the Bellagio 15-30 is probably the softest game in the world. If you are a winning 6-max player you would be a favorite in this game. Of course I lost 100 BB's in 3 8 hour sessions.
I am sure the 8-16 is also great.

I just got back from Vegas. I went to the Wynn my first night and dint go anywhere else the whole trip. The 8/16 and 15/30 were great. The floor people and dealers are awesome. If you play as much as I do you'll have meals comped the whole time. Get yourself a strawberry julius while you're there too. They're bomb. That's about it.

why is everyone recommending the bellagio...for someone with no car on the far north end...it's worlds away

I appreciate everyone's replies. I'm .9 miles N. of the Wynn, so I'll definitely be playing there.

Not sure why my link didn't work, but it's the Hilton Grand Vacations Club. Looks pretty sweet for a family and I'll be leaving them there for 5 days!!!

Thanks again.

What time does the Sahara tourney start and when would I need to sign up to insure I get in?

I'll be flying in on Thursday night with a few friends and plan to hit the Sahara tourney. Here's the info from All Vegas Poker, along with other tourneys.

Cab rides along the Strip are cheap, reliable, and plentiful (most times). So no one is thinking twice about the cab ride, they're just recommending where they would prefer to play.

11am, 7pm, and 11pm every day. Show up 15 minutes early and you'll almost certainly get in. Show up 1 minute early and you may find yourself an alternate (but normally you'll still get in).

I hear ya.

cheap, reliable, and plentiful but at most times of the day it could unfortuneately take like 30 min to get from the Wynn to the Bellagio

I recommend the Wynn. In addition to having a generally soft 8-16 game, they've got hands down the hottest cocktail waitresses in Vegas, and their poker room is very nice and clean. I go to Vegas several times per year, and since it opened I've always stayed at the Wynn.

Ride the bus. I know some would not want to do this, but for 2 bucks you can go from one end of the strip to downtown.
