QQ Preflop

First villain is tilt-shoving, he has two cards.

Second villain just won a large pot with top and bottom, he is loose passive and does not seem particularly good, this is the first time he has made this sort of a move preflop and I am about 70% sure he is making an isolation raise with a somewhat marginal hand.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (4 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

SB ($77.05)
Hero ($31.45)
UTG ($12.15)
Button ($34)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG raises to $12.15, 1 fold, SB raises to $24.05, Hero shoves or waits for a better spot?

If you're that sure SB's got a marginal hand (meaning one you're well ahead of) you have to push here. Even if you're slightly ahead of his AK UTG's overlay makes this a profitable situation.

Based on your read, push it.

If you trust your read, you have to go in here.

on the other hand, why didn't he just raise 10 more to cover you too? if he seems like the kind of player that puts thoughts into the size of his raises it might be a warning but i still don't think you can get away.

Given your read, its a call. Just pray and overcard doesn't pair one of their likely holdings.

Well, not super marginal. I put a hand range into pokerstove and this is what I came up with:

7,171,333 games 18.360 secs 390,595 games/sec

Board:
Dead:

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 32.3435 % 31.52% 00.82% { TT+, ATs+, KQs, AdKh, AQo-ATo, KQo }
Hand 2: 16.1691 % 15.84% 00.33% { random }
Hand 3: 51.4874 % 50.78% 00.71% { QQ }

Put your money in here with the read you have made

Any comments after the equity analysis by pokerstove? I am confident this is an accurate hand range.

Quark-

For me, seeing what pokerstove has to say is irrelevant. If you are confident you have the best hand, based on your read, shove it in the middle.

Re: QQ Preflop

Given UTG's overlay the hand range you provided confirms the earlier comments this is a profitable push.

The only thing I wonder about is -

he does not seem particularly good, ... he is making an isolation raise with a somewhat marginal hand.

Guys who aren't good don't know what an "isolation raise" is. If your read is good, go for it, but SB probably has some kind of hand, and obviously he calls your small range. It's probably still a push because of the dead money from the first guy, but I think your range for SB is too big. Take out KQ and AT.

CB,

I disagree. Bad players may not recognize the term or even realize what they are doing.

However, even bad players seem to know that if some jack off keeps opening with a bunch of crap, they can repop him with crap that is a little better.

Me, timer runs out (action at other tables 6-tabling and anaylzing the situation left me with about 10 secs left, the weak-tight nit that resides in me won and I couldn't make a decision )

Thank you for confirming this is a shove, I was pretty sure it was too, but I also was pretty sure I could take this guy out later, I wound up playing HU with him for about about 100 hands and busted him But this is a still a shove, and I am a pussy

Quark,

Don't worry.

Being a pussy has its merits.

I am not a pussy.

Yesterday, I lost 1000 bucks playing 100 and 200 nl over about 1200 hands.

I played a little over 2000 hands yesterday and finished the session up several hundred.

I take [censored] that contain severl buy in downswings.

The problem with this new style of responding is that sometimes I forget what I was responding too.

Whatever, I am going to go get hammered and smoke some delicious dutch masters as soon as I get away from 2+2 and get in the shower.

I pwned at golf today.

I am not playing poker today.

NESS
