Star on the top of a pokerstars avatar??
 

Any idea what a small star on the top of the circle of a Pokerstars avatar means? There's a guy at my table with one and he has no idea what it means either. Nobody at the table does. I checked his tourney history and he hasn't won anything so that's not it. He can chat too. I'm at a loss.

Did you take notes on him? I have not taken notes on anyone at Stars so I am just guessing.

No. If you have notes it shows a little N under the avatar.

I saw someone with one of those in a cash game. No-one, including her, knew what it meant.

i called tech. support as a play money player two years ago and was told the star above my avatar depicted play money player. I wondered because some players at the play money tables did not have one.
I have not noticed anyone with a star since i moved to the .com site. mine disappeared once i went to the .com site and downloaded the real money software. fwiw.

It sounds like it indicates a person who has not actually deposited any money on the site yet, ie hasn't played any rel money games on that account.

Well, I play on the .com side and I have won a little money through freerolls although I currently have no money in my account.

Never played on the .net side

Signed up and only played on the .com side

Never played real money games on that site

Only ever played fake money games

Do not have a star above my circle. Many other fake money players do not. Many of them do. Have often asked other players about this. Most have no clue.

A couple have said in the past that it had something to do with tournaments-- having won (perhaps won a freeroll and moving on to second level-- if that is the correct terminology-- next tourney?)

hmmm maybe its about having won or cashed in your last game? Like a running hot icon. Doubt they'd advertise winner like that but maybe. /shrug

No idea lol. Someone should ask PS about that one.

I'm pretty positive that Merton is right on this one. Notice that the players with a star don't have pictures? That option isn't available for the .net signup. I wondered about it too when I first signed up thru .net for play money.
