help me know what type of videos to make
So I am trying to figure out what type of videos the average person would be most intrested in seeing. I am looking into making these very accessable to all sng players, as I know the high cost of sign up fees at most training sites makes it tough for a lower limit player to get on the sites. So, what would you guys be most intrested in seeing me play? Also, any other comments would be greatly appreciated as I really want to give back to the community that made me who I am today.

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
The numbers of tables I'd like to see you have running would depend on whether you were going to use the replayer or not. If the choice were between running 1 table using the replayer and running 2 or more tables live, then I'd like to see you run 1 table. Otherwise I'd like to see you run 4 tables. Sorry if that was confusing.
Edit: I'm thinking of MTT's when I rambled above. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
You are right. The high cost of membership to "Coaching Sites" is too high for low buy-in players. Your videos will be very welcome.
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
I know this is an SNG board, but from a guy who's had a ridiculously great WPT run I'd like to see MTT videos.
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
you guys voting for 4 tables are stupid, ducy?
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
45 man SNGs
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
I hope this doesn't sound too goofy but seriously ANY video you make I will happily watch!
You do a really good job explaining and going over hands regardless of the format. I guess if I was forced to choose at gunpoint I would pick the one table replayer videos just because I am a low stakes player and I really like the amount of time you spend talking about plays that are made. Anyhow, I like your style of play and I think watching your videos have helped me the most. Thank you! FJ FTW!!!!! |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Im glad to hear they have helped. Keep the replies coming.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with this, sng or multis doesnt matter a ton, 1 or 2 tables live is really boring in a video format, 1 has the most educational value though and I love being able to knock out a whole review of a sng in 15 minutes via replayer. If it was up to me id love to see like a vid per day with 1 table via replayer, I think something like that would end up being more content with around the same recording time. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Ok just out of curiousity, what would you guys be willing to pay for these different types of videos?
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
ya replayers, im sick of hearing bigjoe talk about football games at time recording and z32fanatic complain about his ten page paper due

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Just to add something different. disregard if you already offer this but I would like to see a video of how to use software to review leaks and what not. info on what stats to consider using on table overlay, why. How and what hhs to review and some tips and tricks that you may use such as ahk scripts or how to choose which hands to review. maybe a quick glance with no commentary to what it actually looks like and how you even consider 10 plus tables. Basically, more of a how to review/ study and introduce software tricks. would pay up to 40$ depending on how much info offered. more for the low limit noobs.
and also, video of where you lose. e.g. you record 4 tables and only money once. I would be willing to pay up to 3 dollars a table per losing video.(if that even makes sense). Watching winning videos doesn't give noobs a sense of somebody spite calling or what its like to make right plays but lose and why it was the right move. you could offer a couple vids and wouldn't need to make new ones obviously. I think this idea is very important because its hard for noobs to understand emotionally what its like to money 4, lose 6 but still show profit. Maybe show graphs on losing streaks so we can relate. The 1st idea better than the 2nd but just offering different ideas to what I personally would pay money to watch. Congrats on all your success. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Right now, I am only 9 tabling on my laptop and use no software. I am pretty sure z32 and joe play a few more games but with no software. As for making live videos of a random 4 tabling session, we have done that in the past and people seemed to like it, so I will be making some more of those.

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
mtt videos recorded live would be amazing. like all the sunday tourneys but thats probably asking a lot im sure

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
4 tables of micro sng's like 5's and 10's, while discussing the optimal strategy and such.

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
i would like to see you 4table mid or low limit sngs - but everything will come i will watch - tytyty - a great thing for the low limit sng players!!!
|
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
I voted for a single, mid-limit SNG. The mid limits have enough of all types of players that something should be relevant to players at any level. It's also most likely that a serious player plays the mid levels when decides he wants to take the next step to getting better.
Definitely use the replayer. Dead air kills your audience's attention and there's nothing like the early stages of a SNG to create a whole lot of dead air. It also allows you to pause and discuss, say after folding 93o from the CO in level 2, what hands you would play in that position, how, and why. As far as an analysis video, I suggested it to one of the major training sites, and they seemed more in to just collecting videos of random STT players playing and yammering, so the "market" might not be there. It does seem like a very good idea as a gift to the forum though. The downside is it's probably 50x more work to make per unit time than a live play video and at least 20x harder than a replayer one. It seems like the kind of thing that has to either be free or really expensive. Maybe you could put in just a little chat berating, for old times' sake? Also, anyone who said they would pay any less than $20+ for a FJ video is misguided. If it's for sale at all it's worth at least $20. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
SngIcons have done reviews of merged hand histories in the past - ie several subscribers played a SNG and supplied the handhistory afterwards. Watching that in the replayer with bigjoe commenting on each players game was very educational - and also fun, because a couple of the players in the game were actually in the room with bigjoe, and was being made fun of.
More of that would be cool, maybe OnFireJustice could do one of those? |

[/ QUOTE ] Slim, It's just hard to want to pay a considerable amount of money (to some people) after being used to all the videos being free (free after the sngicons registration fee). It all depends on what the trade off is. If it's between a) John makes free videos, or b) John makes videos for $10, then it's hard for people to not choose the free videos. However, it's much different if the choices are a) John makes $20+ videos, or b) John doesn't make any videos. In the latter, it would be pretty easy for people (at least me) to pay 20 or more dollars for his videos because they're worth so much more than that. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
FJ - I posted this suggestion on the sngicons forum as well... Bigjoe showed some interest but it didn't go anywhere.
I love watching entire games play out, but it would also be very useful if instead, you picked a "topic" and then played back specific hands in that topic. You can do this easily by copy&pasting assorted hands from Pokertracker into a textfile, then the popopop player would be able to play back the assortment of hands. Some example topics... How to play specific starting hands... for example small/mid pocket pairs, AJ/AQ play at different blinds, etc, playing at certain blind levels, how to adjust vs certain types of villains, specific push/fold situations with various stack dynamics. By selecting specific topics, you can make an almost "encyclopedic" collection of topics related to SNG play. Just a suggestion... keep up the great work. |

I just think it's a bad idea to try charging some middle-of-the-road price for them as a compromise. It's just going to keep some people from being able to see them while shorting the author on what they're really worth and the props he should get for giving away such a valuable resource. I thought about this after getting as offer to do instructional videos. What they wanted top pay me for 45 minutes of me yammering over a set of SNGs wasn't worth IMO what they'd charge other people to watch it, plus someone else would get the money and not me. They would pay me the same thing to do a how-to analysis video, which would be a lot more work and (again IMO) worth way more than what they were willing to pay me for it and way more than they would charge their customers to watch it, plus I wouldn't get the money anyway. After thinking about it, it seemed like there were only three reasonable choices for a how-to analysis video. 1) Make the video and give it for free to everyone because that's how I learned and I want to give back. 2) Make the video and find someone to distribute it for what I think it's worth and give me back a fair share of it. 3) Be lazy and not do it. Doing the work, not giving away away the product, but not really making any money off of it is the worst possible way to combine those. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Jon,
I would like to see a low limit sng. I'm a member of cardrunners. I know any winning player can afford $25 a month. It's worth it! I play small stakes sngs and pay with my winnings. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
There's virtually no 6-max turbo sng strategy out there, so some video's of this would be nice. I've seen all the sng videos from sngicons and i'm sure as instructors you think you may be going over the same ground at times...so 6-max sng's would be a little different.
4-tabling in real time and only using the replayer for merged hand history review's a la bigjoe, is my preference. One important point, don't talk about American sport while doing video's (you don't) as i'm sure lot's of viewers aren't Yanks..and could care less. |

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
By far the most important thing for sng vids is # of tables. 4 is mandatory. A 1-table sng video is worthless.

Re: help me know what type of videos to make
Seriously though, the replayer vids are optimal as far as actual learning goes. I think the best vids on the site are Junglen's mtt and your ftp final table series which both used the replayer.
4 tabling live can be a clusterfuck of information, so much so that it leaves almost no time to explain the reasoning behind your plays. That's the point of the videos, right? |

[ QUOTE ] By far the most important thing for sng vids is # of tables. 4 is mandatory. A 1-table sng video is worthless. [/ QUOTE ] This is so wrong. [/ QUOTE ] A 1 table live SNG video is rather boring, so I think you're both right. A 1 table replayer video, on the other hand, is great if you provide solid analysis and skip the boring stuff, which you do. Your recent video on FT (that showed up as a Stars table on the popopop replayer) was pretty good. Skipped right through all the useless hands and get to the good stuff. I think you got through 2 stts, and provided way better commentary about what you could do in a certain situation, e.g., if utg had folded, what hands z32 was pushing, etc, than you could have playing 4 tables live. FWIW, I like the mix between 4player live and popopop replays, but as of late I'm partial to more replayer videos since you don't have many up and you tend to talk more strategy. Also, please get Joey to talk more about poker during his videos. His replayer videos showing hole cards are great. Don't care to hear about Desmond Howard again, or a conversation with his mother, or his new bed while he's 4 tabling live. Also, Chip had a great video a while back using the replayer that I thought was brilliant, even though I think some of his pushes may have been a little off or at least close, so I hope you can get him to do a few more replayer vids as well. All in all, I've learned a lot from the 3 of you, and getting the Gravy to do a few more with z32 would be sweet. I imagine you'll be playing a ton of these now since you pwn rakeback. |
Re: help me know what type of videos to make
