UFOs, Big Foot, etc
has anyone ever seen anything cool like a UFO, big foot, lake monster or anything?
Ive never seen anything, though I wish I have. I suspect that this is the case with a lot of people, and leads to a lot of false "sightings" by people who just really wish they had seen something making something ordinary extraordinary. |

Re: UFOs, Big Foot, etc
I saw a UFO once when I woke up for work like 5am and it was still dark out. I then ran back into the house and woke up my brother to point out my extraodinary discovery. He begrudgingly got up only to point out that my "UFO" was a star.

Re: UFOs, Big Foot, etc
I personally have never seen a UFO (that I can make definite claims to be a UFO), but I know someone who was actually under a light shine(d?) down from a UFO. She actually had to go to many months of therapy b/c she was so freaked out by the incident. Nothing of interest happened to her (such as alien abduction or tractor beam, etc), just had the light directed on her from the ship for a solid minute.
The UFO sighting occurred on the Niagara River, and was reported to the town police by several hundred residents. |
Re: UFOs, Big Foot, etc
Penn & Teller's BS did a segment on UFO sightings. They went to some therapy groups of people who had been abducted. It was very clear that they had mental problems (not because of seeing a UFO) and/or were being taken advantage of by the therapist. When they described their experiences it was all right out of a movie, implying that they're just taking bits and pieces of all the typical UFO stuff you hear and putting it together.

Re: UFOs, Big Foot, etc
big foot was a fake. but i did see a ufo long time ago. i was out on a golf course in the darkness getting nightcrawlers. and a large white light was in the sky. no big deal until two smaller lights appeared and went back and forth by it moving constantly for about ten minutes. then they faded out. true story
then some came down and abducted me and cut big slits in my stomach. planted metal things in my ears and neck. phoney story |

Re: UFOs, Big Foot, etc
I think I've told this story before, but maybe in SMP rather than here, but I once sighted a UFO, but later identified it.
This was when I was in college, i.e. late '70's. It was in the fall, late September or early October. I was driving through North Park, in North Central Colorado, around sunset. The sun was behind the mountains, and may or may not have been below the horizon. As I was driving, I saw in the sky in front of me a silvery, brightly shining, apparently metallic object that was pointed on either end and curved top and bottom, possibly saucer-shaped object seen edge on. It was high enough in the sky that I really had no reference point to determine size, distance or speed, but it was moving. I watched this thing for a minute or two, and either because the sun dropped lower, or the movement of my car and the object changed the angles, the object gradually reflected less light, and I finally realized what I was looking at -- a jet contrail. It was apparently pretty dry at the altitude the jet was flying, and it was leaving behind a very short contrail, tapered to a point at either end, but when I first saw it, in the early twilight, it was reflecting the sun so brightly that it looked metallic. I became much more of a skeptic about UFO's (as far as their being extraterrestrials anyway) as I realized just how easy it can be to totally misinterpret what one is seeing. |
