C-Bet here?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter
My thought is: If I cbet and he has an ace he will call anyway and if he hasnīt got one he will fold anyway.
So could checking this flop be better than betting?

Hero ($112.70)
BB ($62.20)
UTG ($156.25)
MP ($63)
CO ($125)
Button ($79)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls $1, 1 fold, Button calls $1, Hero raises to $7, 1 fold, MP folds, Button calls $6.

Flop: ($16) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $10, Button folds.

C-Bet is pretty standard here.

board is dry, i dont hate giving a free card here. Or c/c'ing.

you are never going to win a huge pot here either way and by checking you need to open up your calling range if he bets.

fwiw, i usually cb.

if you were in position checking would be a lot better (than checking oop)

Re: C-Bet here?

I think there are more than just two scenarios here by C-betting. You are saying that an ace calls or raises, and any hand you might get value from folds, thus there is no reason to put money into the pot. However, the best reason to c-bet here to avoid a bluff taking down the pot. Hands without aces should bet here often to your flop check.

so if you check in position you would still call any bet from villain on turn right? does get tricky if he fires on river, he can bluff us out with a worse hand. but i guess reads on villain will help making the decision.

i don't mind calling two streets here. clearly it depends on the player but being in position means i get to wipe out one street of value if i so choose which is really important in this type of spot

played fine, maybe bet a bit more on flop so people don't possibly play back at me

That's about as good as a c-bet flop as I've seen.

I check here. Why do we want to turn our hand into a bluff? Just to avoid being bluffed? Meh

Yes, if he never calls a flop bet without an A, you should just check. There is no value to be gained from betting, we cannot get him to fold a better hand, and the board is so dry that our hand requires no protection if we are already ahead.

Re: C-Bet here?

I usually check this for a similar reasons to as you explained. Against a good player though you might have to face a bet because he wont put you on an ace but how you react depends on your knowledge of how he plays.

Of course against a calling station you can just cbet this flop.
