HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

I personally think both Pokerstars and Fulltilt are missing out on a huge opportunity when it comes to HU sng's. They need to make these more revealing for the ordinary joe.

I think they should have a "REMATCH" option at the end of a HU sng. If both players click on this "REMATCH" button, it automatically would register you into the same buy-in level of another HU sng, and your new table will open. I say, bring the "REMATCH" option and let the winner freeroll into a tilt session with his opponent and increase his profit levels.

I also would suggest they bring on the HU SHOOTOUTS (TURBO) version.

Pokerstars over the summer took upon the 16 player and 32 player HU sng's that run 24/7. However, they never fill up past the $10 buy-in level. I loved this idea at first, but after noticing that mainly the $5's fill up, it just was not profitable for me to play in it. I would end up winning 2-3 games to only make a profit of $5-$12 for 1.5 hrs of spending time.

I would suggest they implement a smaller field of a shootout, 8 player shootouts. They should run these in all levels, where top 2 would make the money (1st 62.50% / 2nd 37.50%). This would be real fun!

Anyone have any other suggestions? Let us suggest some more "unique" ideas on how to make HU SnG's more fun and profitable.

8 man turbo shootouts would be pretty sweet.

Like E-crack, I think I'd just play these all day and probably commit suicide during the first downswing.

Rematch button would be great, especially for the lower portion of the high level games (55-220s) where you get a lot of random players just donking around (mtters, hu cash players, sng players).

Perhaps we should start an email petition for the rematch button on Stars/Tilt.

I remember emailing PokerStars back in March for them to implement bigger shootouts for HU SNG's, and in June they came out with the 16/32 player ones, I think the 8 players would be sweet. Top 2 making the money, lots of profit potential up here!

How would we go along with getting our voice heard?

Those shootouts just dramatically increase your variance plus you can't game select any good. But I'd LOVE a rematch button. All the fish that are taking you down the first match trough always catching a better hand than you are gonnna "continue crushing you". $$$
Please someone put up an email to send them, I am too lazy.

I would put up an email but I suck at writing professional letters although I went to college and learned all that mumbo jumbo. Anyways, I will see what I can dig up and I'll post it if I think it is worth sharing.

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

PokerStars Support,

Hi, I'm writing this letter because I have a suggestion to improve the game for myself and other players.

I mainly play heads up tournament games, or heads up sit n' go poker. I find that often times I get involved in a long and fun match with another good player and we both want to play each other again. When the game finishes we sit in another game but a lot of times another random player will register before one of us can sit and we miss out on playing again.

For this reason I am suggesting that PokerStars adopt a "rematch" button, similar to Ultimate Bet. That way if 2 players both agree to a rematch they can play each other again without having to worry about another player sitting with us.

Thank you and continue to provide me with the best poker site around,

XXXXX

Change around some stuff so they're not all the same.

A couple "I think you should add a rematch button because I like to play the same players multiple times" should be good too. Obviously if a ton of people send it to Stars they're going to realize it came from the same spot, but if we all support this change anyways it's an honest attempt at getting something changed.

I've gotten 12 people to already email pokerstars, I hope you guys can take a minute to do so aswell, and ask your friends to do so as well, even if they do not play HU sng's.

Haha yeah, thanks a lot man. Lets hope to see it actually be put into works. A lot of the highstake HU players would love this as well.

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

I decided to explain why I don't like the "rematch" button idea. It has to do with what hra posted.

If you are able to trap a uber-fish into more games against you, the fish may not be satisfied with that service, and the fish may decide to discontinue playing HUSNGs. UB is notoriously harder, and I imagine the "rematch" button had something to do with this.

Even if a fish punched the button on me, i would not be pleased. I don't want to be forced to play an extra game when either I need a break, or I have to leave. These things both decrease my edge because I may be tired, really have to go take a dump, or I may not be able to play the next game, sacrificing my money. Fish probably have more of a life than what we have, and a valuable thing for a fish is to be able to play just one game of HUSNG if he so chooses, and then go on to play Razz. That is the life of a fish, and I would not want to upset that desire to play just one. If the "rematch" is instituted, then playing just one, or playing a different kind of opponent is denying the fish these options, increasing the chance of our games drying up.

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

Do you realize that BOTH players have to hit the rematch button for there to be a rematch?

It sounds like you think that one player's wish turns into an endless amount of husngs where you're trapped at a computer for 48 hours against the same limp/min bettor.

Doesn't actually sound that bad to me.

daveT 11-14-2007 02:46 AM

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

lol

Yes, that is what I thought. If it works like that, then I am all for it, and change my stance.

I would rather not face off with a min-better for 2 days, since those games take forever. I want to be stuck with the guys that just shove AI with every hand before the flop. Completely brainless, I might be able to last 2 non-stop hours with them.

MxGucci 11-14-2007 02:48 AM

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

Yeah I think you assume that if one of the opponents say "rematch" the game just begins. It doesnt work that way. Both of you must accept. I haven't played on UB so I wouldn't know how they go about it, but I am guessing if the winner clicks on "REMATCH" the loser will most likely be prompted a box to ask if they accept/decline.

I understand what your saying about the fish not being satisfied, but no offense, I have seen fish that play more games then I do with an ROI of about -30% just in HU games.

If you are emailing them about the rematch button you should mention the stupid 1 minute wait before a sng kicks off..... (assuming they still have it, i havent played on stars in ages)

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

Obviously a rematch button is ideal for keeping a fish on the hook if you are so lucky. However, is this at all bad for the larger pool of players who don't get a crack at same fish? At times, there's not a ton of volume at the 50-100 levels, I'd hate to think there's a couple -30% ROI snappers who get pulled out of the mix while the rest of us have to -EV grind against each other.

hra146 11-14-2007 01:22 PM

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

lets say there will be a tendency to a faster drain of fish in the pool, but I dont really think its gonna be dramatic.

And like with everything in poker and life, things will even out over the course of time. Some day you yourself will be the one to play 10 matches vs. an -30% ROI fish.

Re: HU SnG\'s - Suggestion for PokerStars / FullTilt

Yea, the more you play the more you benefit from your increased edge (which the rematch button should do). Just hit it against players you feel you have a solid edge against and just leave it be if you feel the average player is worse than the one you played.

how exactly does this button work on ultimate bet?

like if you click it, and the other guy just sits there but doesn't leave, does he get the boot?

or can you leave or are you stuck there?

When the game's over, there's a button you can click. If both players click it, they play again.

Either way, the table's over, so it's not like anybody's stuck anywhere. If you want to start another game, you have to re-join the queue anyway.
